We need to bronze that headstone for the February carousel. It was pretty epic. I still feel like there's going to be a major domino to fall that's going to pick things up. While I was genuinely shocked UNC extended Hubert Davis, it just feels like there will be a pretty important domino to fall. If I'm guessing, I'd still say Rick Barnes retiring at Tennessee will be a catalyst. Still also not sure Rodney Terry moves on at Texas, but I'm less sure about that prediction.

Last week's thread increased 700% week over week from the thread before that. Kudos to Brad and team for ensuring we will have a similar dropoff of responses to this thread after a very good week of basketball.

Winning is the best antidote!
To be fair, I started that thread out by rightfully criticizing Brad. I ended the thread by defending Brad from the Bruce zealots. It was a wild ride.

Changes have been made, and energy looks much better all over. It's crazy to think we may only have three games left this season. I hope we have a lot more, because when this team is on, we are so fun to watch!

Brad can only be 100% back, just like I said (or maybe just thought) after you said that after the Duke game.
Maybe he comes back bigger and better than ever before, 10% bigger and better. Did that possibility ever cross your mind?

Nothings changed for all the things Brad is great at the the fact remains the x and o's, the in game adjustments, calling timeouts when necessary are mediocre at best there will 7 or 8 coaches available this off season that would strengthen the basketball program considerably. I have to think most of us on here would like to see the basketball program reach its potential. Right now it's not there, it's merely really good And Brad is to be thanked for that he's done a good job. Do we want good or do we want to be one of the best 8 or 10 basketball programs in the nation, a yearly final four contender and even a national championship every once in a while. Now let's beat Purdue and win this Big Ten Tournament. ILL!

For those in the last thread that noticed Brad and Mike in the handshake line …

I certainly noticed how much love they gave to each other in the handshake line. But I'm struggling to wrap my brain around a B1G assistant jumping from one conference team to another. I'd love it if Illinois could land both Boynton (for recruiting) and Yaklich (for coaching acumen).

Maybe he wants Brad back 100% next season but will jump off the Brad wagon/cliff again after 10% of the games in '27.

I know I should not feed the Jules troll, but here is a partial list of very good to great coaches (according to most college basketball observers), who are without a national title:
Mark Few -- 2 FF in 23 years
Bob Huggins -- 2 FF in 39 years
Kelvin Sampson -- 2 FF in almost 40 years
Satan -- 1 FF in almost 30 years
Rick Barnes -- 1 FF in more than 35 years
Dana Altman -- 1 FF in more than 35 years
Yes, there have been some FFs for those coaches...over a period of decades.
You can also add Matt Painter, Chris Beard and Shaka Smart to the list of good coaches with no titles
No one has more respect for Bruce Weber as a coach and especially as a person than I do. He took the Illini where they had never been. And coaching someone else's recruits and installing a new system has its own challenges. He also coached K State to some great seasons and an E8. But Brad Underwood reviving the program and making Illinois relevant on the national stage the past few years is simply amazing and a higher bar. The winningest team in the B1G over a period of years. It's better than just really good. I dare say it's "elite" for this school.
