I doubt if Coach Small was pleased with "head-to-head wins over four top 30-ranked teams". Head to head? C'mon.

Could Coach Small please comment on his team's recent performances?

Can't find a thing.

No more searching, I quit. News Gazette even. Maybe I screwed up.

Big Illini golf fan here, but my interest is slowly dwindling.

I have no idea what's happening.

Funny: Small, Illini mentioned on national tv golf like crazy. Campbell, Detry ... cool.

Go Illini!
just curious, why is interest dwindling?

Are you serious? No comments from Coach Small; spin from Illini golf office. No posts here after 10th place finish at Southern Highlands. I'd say there's some dwindleosity. I don't speak for everyone obviously.

Dwindling is a perfectly good word; hope I don't get indifferent. Never.

Go Illini golf. Can do.

oh, you aren't happy with the lack of comments from a golf program coach, got it. I might be a bit different because even though I have followed this program for the better part of 2 decades I can't remember once looking for what Small said about the team outside of the quote in the website write ups.

10th place in that stacked tourney is a very possible outcome for our team on a weekend. Not really surprised, hoped for better. I like this squad, but i am worried we don't have the depth. I guess Small's success keeps my interest from dwindling after a bad tourney. But to each his on, and yes was serious when asking that question. This is a top 20 team in the nation, for like the 15th year in row. pretty impressive stuff if you ask me.

Another tough field at Pauma Valley starting Monday.

Go Illini.

insanely tough, 6 of the top 7 teams are only 2 out the top 35 Loyola Marymont and Univeristy of San Fran. Good thing is like last tourney, if we don't have a high finish we wont drop to far because of the comp. It is also an opportunity to push into the top 10.

Jackson looking good in the opening round. Currently in solo 2nd at -4, good to see him playing well again.

Illini are tied for 5th, so good start. #2 Arizona State is lapping the field in round 1.

Its the 4 score again, Ethan was solid and just hit the skids here. Max with a couple birdies down the stretch would be massive.

Awesome to see Ryan leading the pack through 2 rounds! Let's go Illini, finish strong today!
Sadly he did not and fell all the way down to a tie for 7th (with Buchanan). The Illini will still finish in 4th (unless Herendeen miraculously eagles the last hole), which is still strong considering there were 6 teams ranked ahead of us going into this tourney.

Really good golf from the boys this week, 4th place finish. 1 of only two teams who were under par all three rounds. Shame Ryan was off his game today just a bit. Jackson had another good finish, this guy is headed for the tour. Good to see this type of performance in a marquee tourney.

Jackson with a t-7 in this last tournament, one that has to be a highly rated field. The PGA U ranking is an average of all your points in qualified events and this one should be a bunch of points and help Jackson a good bit. The point system greatly favors top 3 finishes, but this will get him good points considering the field had like 40 of the top 100 players in it. Also the ASU guys ranked ahead of him did not do well. The goal is top 5 in the PGA U which gets you unconditional Korn Ferry status your first year. Jackson is right now 7th on the list which is unconditional korn ferry. Number 1 guy gets PGA status which is David Ford of UNC currently.

Hoping he can push through the top 5 on PGA U, he has been near there for so long, it would be such an accomplishment. His good day yesterday should give him some confidence heading into next week. Some top players didn't fare so well.

LSU was on fire yesterday. Would be nice if the team can find some synergy in the next couple of weeks to show up in Md. as the team to beat. It was a good finish against a strong field, with Jackson's and Ryan's good week, and as Max finished strong the last few holes and Trey posting a good steady round in the end, improving each day. It will be interesting what the next few weeks bring.

Rest up boys and recover. Find the joy in the game and competitive spirit. Work on the short game to produce those 68's and salvaging a +2 round when your game is off, minimizing those bogies and others. Rally around your mates when one is off, signaling they have your back ....The post season is almost here!

Illinois is absolutely the team to beat in the Big 10, whether they do it is another story. But it would be a big upset if they lose. Illinois is somewhere near the top 10 and next closest is Northwestern or purdue around 35-40. We are the big dogs going into this without a doubt.

The Big Ten landscape is different with the new additions:

#10 Illinois
#15 UCLA
#34 Northwestern
#36 Oregon
#39 Purdue
#43 USC

Oregon won the title in 2016, and UCLA in 2008. Definitely more competitive now.

Alright we are back in action today at the Memphis Intercollegiate. This is the weakest field of the year. I have to think this will be considered a disappointment if we don't get the dub. and I never say that in golf because on any giving day anything can happen, but there is nobody in our league in this one. Lets see what we do as the big dogs. It is at the Colonial Country Club so that is cool.

The course is currently winning, Illinois in second, not surprised this is one of the great courses of yesteryear.

Illinois's scoring looks off with a random hole missing. Probably gonna have to wait for the round to end to see the actual scores, but not palying great and havent shot ourselves in the foot yet

Man the scoring system is jacked up. Missing holes (all on the 6th as if the volunteer didn't know any better) lol. It even has some of Jackson's back 9 on Round 2. Scoring completely stopped as if they were pulled off the course, but weather map showed clear. No rhyme or reason.

Hoping they can find some momentum out there.

Round 1 appears to be fixed. Illini currently second at +10, Memphis in the lead at even par. Max is off to a great start at -1, Trey and Jake (individual) are top 15 as well. Jackson and Ryan are struggling, hopefully they can turn it around.

Another familiar name in the field is TJ Barger, currently playing for Illinois State. after transferring there a couple years ago.
