Purdue rounding into their usual first round NCAA tournament upset form. They won’t have Painter’s 3 golfing buddies to bail them out next week

if the ball hits the bottom of the backboard it's supposed to be a turnover. this also came after they reviewed it??? what?

  • In Bounds:
The front, sides, top, and bottom of the backboard are all part of the playing area.

  • Out of Bounds:
The ball is considered out of bounds when it touches the backboard supports, the back of the backboard, or any object above the playing court.

  • Examples:
If a ball bounces off the rim and rolls along the top of the backboard, it is still in play. If the ball rolls along the top and falls into the basket, it is a made shot; if it falls off the back, it is out of bounds.

    • Fan-shaped Backboards:
While fan-shaped backboards are rare, if a ball goes over the backboard from front to back or back to front, it is legal and not a violation.

According to the rules I just looked up, the top, bottom and sides are in play. The back and any supporting structure is out of bounds. I would have sworn balls that go on top of the backboard have been ruled out of bounds…but I was wrong.
That said, the phantom foul that followed with only 3 seconds on the shot clock was an incredibly bad,
game-changing call.
EDIT: See Pasadena already posted the rules.

So why was Boswell's play in the MSU game ruled out? Wait Will had a wide open lane for a layup rebound that was a huge call.

Oops you’re right. I should clarify any of the bottom and the back of the backboard. The top is fine as long as the ball skims along it, just not over it.
I know. I was just being an a** for the fun of it. :)

Wow, this Oklahoma / Kentucky game is crazy here at the end. Fears gets the lead with 5.6 seconds left to cap a 7-0 run. And UK wins on last second shot at the rim by Otega Oweh, former Sooner....

Kentucky absolutely craps themselves in the final minute but then hits a buzzer beater to win it

They are small, fairly unathletic for a power conference team, and only have like 3 players so they will l definitely be susceptible to an upset.

Bracket matrix has them as a 4 so they could potentially draw a 13 like High point or Yale. Yale is flat out bigger and Poulakidas would kill Purdue and high points main issue is size but I don't think Purdue would be able to exploit that like other teams.

John Groces Akron is also projected as a 13.

Get ready, Cooper Flagg’s ankle = Chris Duhon’s rib.
Add "Filipowski's knee" to this as well.

Duke sure does know how to milk the drama around their injuries.
