I think you could see the H back concept where a kid will line up at either
RB, Slot or TE, use motion and have an extra blocker at multiple spots. This
was popular in the NFL not that long ago. It puts linebackers in coverage
way more than college defenses want and turns a formation from leaning
toward spread to a powerful run game. If those 230 lb TE/RB's can pick
up the blitz, have enough speed/quickness to run away from linebackers
and catch the ball we have valuable weapons.
Joe Gibbs won more than one super bowl using an H back. Mostly blocking but sometimes caught passes & got some carries. I'm sure Bret would love to utilize a concept like that for some smash mouth variety.

That would be huge. I don't see the problem in letting good college, but probably not NFL kids get another year.

For the vast majority of College players, it will be the last time they play football.

LOL! The sports landscape in Illinois is pretty bleak.
1. Cubs
2. Illinois Basketball
3. Illinois Football
4. Bears
5. Bulls
6. Blackhawks
7. White Sox
8. Northwestern Basketball
9. Northwestern Football
10. Any other college sports team in Illinois
Cubs look decent on paper. I know that doesn't translate but probably 83 wins for the 3rd straight year.

LA sports scene
1. Dodgers WS champs made playoffs 10(?) straight years. Lead MLB in attendance and payroll.
2. Rams - under McVay made playoffs 6 of last 8 seasons (missed one year at 9-7, been to Super Bowl twice under McVay (won once). No snow would have beaten Eagles to advance to NFC championship game this year. Play in NFL's newest and nicest stadium.
3. Lakers - 17 NBA titles and been to Championship series 15 other times. Currently have LeBron and Luca.
4. USC football - perennial top 10 program including 11 national titles 8 Heisman winners. Currently in slump
5. UCLA basketball - 11 NCAA tiles. Currently in slump.
6. LA Kings
7. LA Galaxy soccer
8. LA Angels of Anaheim (2nd MLB franchise)
9. LA Clippers (2nd nba franchise)
10. LA Chargers (2nd NFL franchise)
11. Mater Dei and John Bosco take turns as HS football national champions
12. Hosting Olympics 3rd time in 2028

Of course we have surfing, beach volleyball, grand prix and many other sport championships

I grew up in Illinois but weather makes sports year around here.

Any rumblings of early enrollees sticking out?

On the Illinois website, I counted 121 players currently on the football roster. Between Spring portal adds, transfers out, and reducing the number of walk-ons, that’s going to be at least 16 guys leaving to get to 105. Wild times.

There's only 120 on FI.com now, I believe. That's also all you can roster. I do hope there will be a lot of transition (out) in the April portal. Since every team will have to cut to 105 in the fall, that's a lot of players that will be cut out wondering around. For the players sake, the sooner the better once a program knows they won't make the 105 cut.
