I've been in a situation like that in the past (not anything related to stalking/sexual assault, but still something that attacked my integrity with zero basis in fact or reality). When you have people attacking your character with no evidence or reason and those working with you do nothing to publicly and strongly back you, it's a lonely feeling. If the Goldens feel like that, I can fully see why they are 100% ready to move
Here’s the thing though, regarding Golden. There IS evidence. He reportedly took pictures of numerous women in public without their knowledge and sent them to them. The women say it was a repeated pattern to show that he was watching them. He also allegedly sent dick pics and made unwanted sexual advances on Instagram. Now, what this particular evidence would reveal remains to be seen by us, the general public, but it would take a real hardcore conspiracy theorist to think that numerous women alleging similar incidents which involve pictures, texts and social media posts would not have the physical receipts.

It’s important to remember that this was a Title IX investigation, not a criminal one. Under the first Trump Aministration, Title IX was subject to regulations on sexual harassment cases which narrowed them down so as to not interfere with free speech — in essence, the pictures of the women, dick pics and sexual advances would merely be Golden’s free speech. Biden amended those rules to eliminate that, but Florida still operates under the Trump rules because of a court injunction.

Bottom line, when the UF says the case was meritless, it simply means Golden was just exercising his freedom of speech. Should any of these women pursue a criminal case, the outcome would likely be much different.

He definitely would not be bringing in the caliber of Euro’s to EIU that he’s bringing here, just to second 0440’s point
I don't think anyone believes that he would bring the top Euros to EIU, just that not having him at IL might allow other top programs to win those recruiting battles.

DePaul isn't. They're getting legitimately better. They shelled out money for a coach that Ohio State should have never fired and promised him NIL money. They weren't a push over. I wouldn't be shocked if they're in the NIT next year.
If postseason landscape stays the same, I’d be shocked if they were in the NIT next year. Big East has agreement with Crown and there are no BE teams in NIT this year

From a school perspective the addition of Crown is probably a good thing. Gives them another option and means more teams play in postseason. From the general fan perspective, all it and the opt outs (seen at least 5 teams that decided not to do any postseason), just have two bad tournaments instead of one OK tournament. The DePaul matchup features two teams with a combined nonconference record of 11-29. That is disgusting.

But I agree DePaul is improving. Long way to go, but at least they were watchable this year. Last year they were miserable.

Not sure Nova can or wants to pay that buyout …

But as I’ve mentioned before … Certain coach down south who would be interested in heading back to the West Coast … That could play a factor …
your post is golden my friend............it really really is......................

I hope DePaul makes it all the way back, like top-25 back.
IMO, Ray Meyer (and Joey) repped DePaul and Chicago so well for so long, his legacy deserves it.

What is Luke Yaklich doing this year?

Quick Google search just states no longer at UIUC. I didn't do a deep dive, though. But still curious.

Wow, Iona fires Anderson after only 2 seasons. I wouldn’t mind hiring that dude as an assistant. He can coach.
I was shocked with that one. Rick left him with nothing two years ago and Tobin was getting his type players in there. Yes, he can flat out coach. Someone will grab him up as a HC with all the coaching changes that will happen. I doubt he would take a AC job for a high D1 program.

BU may push players that may not get a lot of PT at U of I to EIU for a year to get experience and help out a former assistant coach. Then year 2 bring that player to U of I and a prominent role on the team with $$$ attached
And just like that, the minor leagues of NCAA basketball are constructed

But would a kid want to go to EIU for a year? Or Western? It would be a great strategy for a team like Eastern to have a couple of guys who aren’t ready for Illinois to play there. They become better with better talent. Would Illinois pay NIL money to stash a kid for a year at Eastern? Interesting question.

it’s also the benefit of bringing in international recruits at smaller schools. Those athletes aren’t as location specific and can fall in love with their school’s location in a way that many domestic preps will not.

Yeah, I don't think boosters are paying for a guy to play somewhere else.

I could see a situation where a prospect is not high major ready but wants to play for Illinois, and the suggestion is made that EIU is a good spot to go and prove himself for a year or two. Of course the problem is if he does well enough now you've got to outbid other schools for him, but at least it's theoretically easier to maintain the relationship if he's at EIU.

What I’m hearing on IU as of this morning …

Dolson is swinging for the fences with the big names because he has a coach (who all of my sources believe to be DeVries) in his back pocket …

Dolson has been able to keep this VERY quiet so we’ll see what leaks over the coming days …
Thought I saw on X yesterday that DeVries had verbally agreed to Iowa yesterday? Was that BS?

If you're DeVries, do you take exception to being the "back pocket" insurance plan and try and get better from Iowa? Or is Iowa focused elsewhere?
