Too small and skinny. At least DGL is tough physically.

That's the most important question. Even many of the players probably don't know yet if they'll be returning. I hate the landscape of college basketball today.

Hard to imagine all these guys (Chester, Amani, Sencire) at IU next year sitting on opposite benches when we play them

But............................... can you imagine it though? 🤯 lol

I'm still wondering about the status of that 6-10 Iowa guy who's transferring out. CoHawk says he'll be an Illini. Has anyone heard anything?

Both Owen Freeman and Brock Harding, from Moline, Illinois, have entered the transfer portal. I was surprised to read some speculation that Illinois might be a possible landing spot for each of them. As an Illini fan who lives in Moline that would be an awesome development. Do any of you who are insiders know if this is a possibility?

In terms of bigs, they will be looking for a backup. Outside of Sarr, the big adds this offseason will come on the wing and at guard.
Really liking this plan.

But does this mean that the price tag that Tre White will want/get is probably more than his worth to us? Or maybe was the midseason rift enough that either he or our staff would prefer to part ways?

Not happening, they can do better than Harding with the guard add. Freeman wants Coleman money and we are giving our frontcourt money to Tomi and Morez.

I think Tre is a true coin flip at this point. There's interest in bringing him back from both parties, but gonna have to figure some stuff out. Will be the player to watch this offseason in terms of retaining/portal.

I've played golf a few times with Brock's dad last year (good dude) and the Illini were a dream destination for Brock but they didn't offer. His brother played baseball for the Illini. I still think he is too small for Big Ten play but perhaps a package deal?

The Illini don't want to spend millions on Freeman (he'd be a backup here), so there's no need for a package deal with Harding included. Illinois really has no use for either of them. Dix, on the other hand ...

I can see that going both ways.

Counting on Morez and Tommy staying

As far as depth pieces, are we looking at Jake Davis and Jason Jakstys as coming back?

Up in the air are DGL and Ben (with eligibility and role decisions to be made).

Probably gone are Ty Rodgers and Cary Booth

KJ and Will to the NBA ...

That would mean the two committed recruits and five to seven portal/recruit guys to fill up a fifteen-man roster—two studs and three to five role/development players.

Why would he want to come back after being doghoused for 3 weeks.

All depends on how he looks at it. I am sure during the benching he was one foot out the door. But as of late, this is the best production he has had in his 3rd year of college in a top 25ish program. It is clear this staff has gotten the best version of Tre lately and maybe he sees that as well.

KJ, DGL, Booth, and Ty I all expect gone for sure. A few others outside of the Kylan and two bigs are tbd.

What does he do better than Morez ?

Also see post 115 and add $1 million …

I struggle with kids who don’t have the fire … Outside of Goode, not a single kid on that IU team had the fire IMO …
I would argue Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway have similar fire that Brad would really like. Does not mean they would be a fit if they were interested/eligible but those dudes definitely care.
