Reading the KU messageboard rip on Hunter, frankly, was a great way to start the morning. However, it has me thinking about legacy vs. money. He could have gone down as one of the better Michigan players in program history and beloved by that fanbase. Instead, he took the check, went to a program where anything besides a championship is looked down on, and left with a bitter taste in the fanbase's mouth. Short term, inarguably worth it to his bank account. Long term? I think he'll have regrets. I think a lot of guys in his position will. A tough position for guys so young to be in.

Agreed. Although it is much easier to "learn the hard way" when you bank account is filled because of your poor choices.

Some stats on yesterday's slate:

- Only 2 of the 16 games yesterday were decided by one possession, Michigan-San Diego and Clemson-McNeese. And Clemson-McNeese was an 11 point game with 40 seconds remaining and never really in doubt.
- Only 3 of the 16 games yesterday were "back and forth", meaning in the second half, both teams had a 50%+ chance of winning at one point: Michigan-San Diego (SD was a slight favorite when up 2 with 2 minutes to go), Arkansas-Kansas (Kansas had over an 80% chance to win when they were up 3 with the ball with 3 minutes to play), and Missouri-Drake (Missouri had a 54% chance to win when the pulled within 1 with 4:28 to play, then Drake pulled away). Every other game was effectively over when the second half began and never was in doubt after that.

agree yesterday wasn't typical first day NCAAT viewing Still had some upsets but not many close games.

I wonder if there are any numbers on how yesterday stacks up to other Day 1/2 days in tournament history.

As it relates to the "games aren't close" factor.

A great dilemma to have. For sure he'll have regrets in hindsight, but at the time he thought he was leaving a team that was missing a championship drive to go to one with title aspirations. And in his defense, the preseason polls and pundits 100% agreed. If KU goes as expected, he probably looks like the key piece to the run. The bag may seem like the motivation, but I think the comments he made said he was dissatisfied with the coaching and running out of time.

The thing is, I can see an alternative universe where Dickinson stays at Michigan, he forgoes hundreds of thousands of dollars in NIL, Michigan still flames out early in the tournament, and Dickinson regrets not transferring and cashing in.

He's not an NBA player. If he made as much as rumored at Kansas, he made the right decision.

Also, he will never beat Illinois, ever.

Vegas has #12 CSU at -1.5 over #5 Memphis. When was the last time a 12 was favored over a 5? Legit question, just wondering if it has happened recently.

That thread is hilarious. With a guy like Hunter who has no shot in the league and last year in college, maybe he did not have much incentive to play one more game? And they actually got the most out of their $1M of AJ Storr in that one game. For me, I see the reason why a guy like Painter does not want to deal with the portal so he doesn't need to deal with what Self is dealing with right now and the whole season. Brad has deal with it but at least he learn a lesson in 2022-2023 and nowadays most of his players play hard. It is weird that guys like Dickinson and Mayer have such negative effects when they don't event have a whole lot of moral issues. I think the lesson learned is your number 1 guy (and number 2 guy) needs to perform and not turn people off to go far. Also, you don't want like more than one trouble maker on the team.

I remember Middle Tennessee St over Minnesota a few years ago

EDIT: the year was 2017. I can't find the spread but a reddit thread comment confirms MTSU was favored
