Kylan has pretty big shoulders too.
Tre got 7 points on 3-5 shooting from the field, and 7 rebounds as well vs Xavier, plus some solid defensive flashes. He is a reliable and dangerous role player and a big contributor as well on this team. I love our starting 5. When we go to the bench, please lean heavily on Morez especially, and maybe some Jake and DGL. Ben just seems slow and out of his depth against these fast, athletic teams.

I watched Kentucky today. I watched our squad today. And I watched the superb energy from Illini Nation today.

If we the Illini and Wildcats each replicate today’s effort, we are going to the Sweet Sixteen. Let’s show up and get another win!!
Illinois looked good. Kentucky looked good... but against very subpar competition. This Illinois team is more than capable.

I was surprised at first to see Illinois-Kentucky as the first game in Milwaukee. But then I realized it’s the CBS exclusive game. Ole Miss-Iowa State is a concurrent game on cable. Big time slot for us, maybe the marquee time slot of the day.

On the note of Illini Nation’s energy, I find it UTTERLY fascinating how different a crop of Illini fans for a given game can be, haha. I’ve seen large Illini crowds in Champaign, Chicago, Evanston, St. Louis and Iowa City. With the exception of Braggin’ Rights (which is always lit), I’ve seen super energetic and super subdued in the same geographic locations … but tonight our fans didn’t just sound loud and engaged, they sounded FULL of energy and passion.

I’m hoping we bring that same vibe again on Sunday!!!!

I can't believe it's been almost 5 years since we lost OA and Chin to Kentucky and were melting down over the possibilities that Kofi and Curbelo were going to follow. Multiple reasons to hate Kentucky, but that ordeal alone would make this win extra sweet for BU.

In terms of series history, do any of the older folks on here know why Illinois and Kentucky don't play each other more often? Outside of the fact that they just haven't had the opportunity to play each other in the tournament, I would think the fact that the two states border each other (I know Lexington is on the East side of Kentucky) they would try to play more often, but after a few series in the 60's and 80's I can't recall any effort to resume the series.
Playing us would imply they see us as equals, which they don't, so they don't schedule anything with us.

House money now.

Going to be a tough matchup for us. They are lengthy and athletic. Best player is a 7 footer that is like Swain with a solid three point stroke. Going to need our A+ game.
Best player Oweh Best shooter Brea Best Center Williams who will give Tomi and MJ all they can handle.

Eh, we have sort of an ace up our sleeves … even if it’s 80%+ orange in the arena, absolutely any program in the country will play us on a Saturday at the United Center if we promise them a return game wherever they want. It’s too much of a win-win, and I think UK would do it.

On that note, a dream troll scenario of mine is a 4-year series with Kentucky where we play in Chicago and then Indianapolis just to mutually troll IU. 🤣

Hoping the refs let us play again on Sunday. Not battling foul trouble tonight was an under the radar blessing to allow Tomi/KJ combo to stay on the floor for long stretches tonight.
That's my key for Kentucky- get Tomi into foul trouble. Waste the first 5 or so possessions if you have to charging into him and get two fouls on him and make it up the rest of the half.
