Rutgers had two lottery picks and didn’t even make the tournament, talent alone is not enough. We were just too young and inexperienced.
C'mon, man. I didn't even bother mentioning all of the other talent we had, and all if the cash they were getting paid. When you're getting paid more as a "student-athlete" than a lot of of us make is a year (or several years), young age is no excuse. Severe criticism comes with the territory.

And you may find yourself … playing in a basketball tournament.

And you may find yourself … without a plan for offense.

And you may ask yourself .. why is my defense run by my son’s rec ball buddy.

And you may say to yourself, my God, what have I done
Letting the games go by, leave opponents undefended
Letting the games go by, can't shoot 3's or rebound
Into the off season, coached another crappy game
Once in a lifetime, just like every other year

Get old and stay old. Team full of freshmen
Nobody in the country will play harder than us! Soft. 50/50 balls were more like 20/80
We have Every Day Guys! Mmmmmmm
FamILLy. Kept all the players and coaches from last year, right?

Screw last season. Is the Illini Basketball 25/26 thread up yet?

The turnovers that had many of us worried in the beginning of the season became reality and cost us a tournament game. This team never was able to hit the high ceiling consistently because the staff never was able to fix the team's bad habits.

Complete misevaluation in offseason (that is 100% on coaching staff). The stage was simply too big for his skillset. The fact that we spent so much for him, is ridiculous (which is likely why he gets so much heat from many of us). I wish him the best with his final season, but it needs to be at a lower level (or a power conference team that does not have final 4/national championship goals).
How much did we pay for him?

You always seem to run fast to defend the refs, but just like the refs today, you apparently flat out missed the knee to the forearm as KJ was going up that caused him to lose the ball in the first place. And last I checked hitting the forearm of a shooter going up because you bit on the pump fake is a foul every time...

There’s some Van Fleet in Boswell. Earlier the year I knew people where didn’t want him to see the floor, but he was the one who always showed toughness against the better teams. I thought team toughness was something we lacked. That was probably due to a lack of experience, especially from KJ and Ivisic. JMHO.
Boswell’s toughness is right up there with Trent and Feliz. He has earned fat stacks for next year. A well-conditioned Tomi and an offensively improved Morez, matched with Boswell’s grit and leadership could be special. Underwood’s relationship with White is a concern; If they have indeed buried the hatchet and can start anew next season, White could be the X factor, assuming he returns, of course. Loyalty’s displeasure with Hamer is well documented but Underwood hired him and he let the defensive woes play out. BU can recruit and he successfully resurrected a broken program here but he doesn’t have the in-game coaching chops when it matters most. This year’s team wasn’t Final Four worthy but I no longer feel Underwood will make a Final Four at Illinois. Bring on Football and thanks to everyone, especially Dan, who make this forum such a treasure.

Count me in for rez, tomi, Kylan, and tre; but I wouldn’t complain if came back. He clearly needs it

Can we please hire a defensive assistant coach that can stop the high ball screen!!! It’s still happening and we have not learned since the Loyola game. 100% totally coaching malpractice. We couldn’t fix it for more than one game in a whole season. And we just trailed another guard into the lane….pick your way they scored and it happened again!!!

Neither are close to ready for the NBA
People keep saying this like it’s going to affect their draft stock. The NBA doesn’t draft players because they’re NBA ready. (See TJ and Dalton Knect falling into the late first round.) Of course KJ and Wil aren’t ready. They’ll be drafted because they have an extremely high ceiling, not because they’re expected to make an impact day 1.
