KJ will almost certainly be first drafted, among that group. Fears and Will's stock could be pretty volatile depending on how they do in camp. Despite the development both need, Fears' first step is NBA ready. My guess as of now is KJ, Fears, Will.
I didn't watch any Oklahoma basketball, was Fears outright better than Will or was he on a worse team and asked to do more?

In my uniformed opinion, our only chance of retaining Riley would be if he goes through workouts and teams are unimpressed with his measurables to the point that he may drop to the 2nd round.

If I were to bet though, these last couple months have been all the NBA needs to see from him to take him in the first round.

Fears' talent is undeniable when you watch. As I mentioned he has and elite first step, and can blow by the vast majority of college defenders. Considering he, like Will, should be a senior in High school this year it's pretty remarkable.

He was, however, a fairly typical freshman PG. He called his own number probably a little more often than Moser would have liked, but he was also arguably the best option. He shot them in, out, and back into a few games. Both are extremely talented and will have a great chance at being starters in the near future.

I think the difference is when you watch Jeremiah you know exactly what he is and what he will be at the next level. Will's physical development is a major question mark. Great touch, great feel, good size, you just wonder how strong he will be and who he will be able to guard. (is he strictly a guard, or will he be able to hold his own against NBA forwards down the line?)

The only negatives I've heard said for Will are his weight/ strength (that can be fixed), his handles (showed promise this year), and his wingspan being less than his height (this could make him drop). The rest is pretty evident that the sky is the limit.

had someone tell me a couple days ago that Flagg would stay for another year because Duke was paying him $10 million. i'm not sure how much they actually paid him this year, but it's still less than NBA.

The Rookie scale for the #1 pick this year is 11 million. Still doesn't make a bit of sense. Flagg is 100% ready.

Would Jon Scheyer even let him stay? I mean, kudos to Dan Hurley for telling Donovan Clingan, who offered to stay, to "get the hell out of here." Some fans won't wanna hear this but I do think coaches have a responsibility to their players as people to get them drafted.

Should also help with recruiting high potential players showing that he is as interested in their future as the future of his team.

Will actually needs a few more years in the weight room. Fans tend to get hung up on this but scouts/execs dont care. See: Brandon Ingram, Chet Holmgren, Kevin Durant, Giannis, etc
I actually think Wills biggest flaw in the nba's eyes will be his wingspan. I think he might have measure out with a negative wingspan(wingspan shorter than your height).

Fans need to understand that the whole one and done rule was to save the NBA money on paying most draftees to spend the first of several years in the weight room. If the worst you can say about a potential first round pick is "more time in the weight room needed" that kid's getting drafted.
No, it was to save them from drafting the Kwame Browns b/c said player looked like a future MVP beating up on HS players. College is a massive step up. Teams get to see if that player has what it takes to be effective or does not. It’s not about another year in the weight room. If it was just that, then skinny guys would fall until they put on more weight.

What kind of uniform does your opinion wear?

Who will go higher in the upcoming draft: Jeremiah Fears or either KJ or Ben
I wonder if instead of going with KJ we took Jeremiah how the team would have done.

Jeremiah 17 ppg 4 rbg 4 apg 3 TO pg - more athletic
KJ 15 ppg 6 rbg 5 apg 4 TO pg - better size

Reality is freshman turn the ball over a lot. 20/20 hindsight I think our team lacked athleticism and Jeremiah might have been better fit. Hard to believe he had committed to Illinois. Say what you want about Brad's X & O's but the man can recruit!

I think he needs to be in that 27-30 range where we could match the $2 million in guaranteed money. But I really think our chances more hing on his family. Watching his mom at the tournament and how upset he was he played poorly, I think (just because of his age) she really may prefer him another year to be a kid yet make $2 million?

The money may be even next year but it’s an extra year before you get to the second NBA contract, which is where the real money is.

No question, but on the other hand if he goes from 27 to 5 in one year he more than makes that up?

I don’t think money is anything we could have an angle on, but he is very very young. Put an outstanding college team around him and does he look like Carmelo next year leading to a lottery pick?

All highly unlikely, but I think there is some small chance?

2 years at 27th is ~5M. 1 year at 5th is ~10M. So the delta is the annual value of the 2nd contract compared to 10M. While the average salary in the NBA last year was ~12M, the median was ~6.7M. The max contracts really skew the average.

I think it comes down to how much you value "yet more money than I can spend" vs. memories that you will never have a chance to make. There is something about the college friends and bonding that never quite seems to happen later in life. If I knew I was getting enough money later, I'd definitely opt for another year at UIUC.
