But where do we stand with All Wright?

Question on 247 ratings. Seems like numerous 4*'s in the portal from the Elon's, Canissius's and Eastern South Dakota St. Pierre's of the world's. When ranking players out of high school, do they just hand out starts to everyone?

Sorry, wasting my time looking through the transfer portal and their are a WHOLE LOT of small school 4*'s who appear to be less than mediocre at tiny schools.

We dont officially know more, but there's a 99.99% chance we will be adding multiply high quality pieces that would cut down Ty's playing time.

But that's my point - we don't know what those high quality pieces are and what are their strengths. For example, if the team added Dix, I would argue that Rodgers fit for the roster increases.

Transfer PG
Boz
Sarr/ or star transfer that defends and shoots
Morez/Trey
Tomi
Morez/Trey
Transfer Big/Big Z?/ post defender
Transfer combo guard/wing that can shoot
Ben if he takes a pay cut
Ty/Davis
Jakstys
2 freshmen limited min unless they pop.

That's what I'm hoping for.

I just don't see Ty sticking around for that type of role. I guess Ty could play the combo role at guard but unless his jumper has suddenly improved that may clogg things up if teams sag off him again or put 5s on him.

I just wrote like six paragraphs that were pretty bipolar on Ty, but it was a winding path of crazy ramblings.

Yes, he has serious limitations in today's game, but he's a plus passer with great size and strength. He could do some booty ball and ISO if you can switch. He's a great culture guy. He's a plus defender and can guard 1-4.

I want him back, if cheap enough. We need older players who have energy and toughness that can give 15min a game.

He also reportedly sat out to work on his PG skills and slimmed down to go along with that. Right now there's a pretty glaring need for a 3rd ball handler even if they add a strong lead guard candidate. Riley filled that role a lot this year but I don't think Sarr is that type if guy if he comes.

I can sum it up. He quit on this years team because he was recruited over. So he redshirted. Doubt somebody like that needs to come back. I’m over him, neither he nor Underwood can claim “culture guy” when the team rolls over for all but DGL.

Personally, I would love to have him back because Ty is an easy player to root for.

Team-wise, roster fit and experience have been overriding factors for team success in the #NIL era. I just think it's too early to know if Rodgers fits with the overall roster. He isn't a primary player or star, so you need to see how those star players shake out before deciding the best fit for the rest of the players.

I feel like we need a guy who can take over a game inside/outside and I don't see one on that list. Riley was becoming that guy...KJ's gone...KB could make things tough with his dribble drive at times but defenses could adjust and take away that game.

It is obviously going to be a long portal season, but we are in such a better position than we were last year, when it comes to roster retention. After the Elite 8 run, we knew there was going to be a major roster overhaul. All considering, I think Brad and Co. did a pretty good job in constructing the roster between the portal and international recruitment. Unfortunately, there were two really big misevaluations in the transfer portal (not naming names), which ultimately hurt in the long run for this season. When you have so much roster turnover, there is such a small window of error in these player evaluations.

Hopefully this offseason will be more of the norm going forward, but with NIL and the portal, nothing is guaranteed. If we can indeed lock down our big 3 or 4 players from last season, I believe it will make for a very exciting offseason. There was a lot of optimism last offseason, but a lot of unknowns. I expect a lot of optimism this offseason, but fewer unknowns. As a result, there is going to be an expectation of a deeper run in the tourney next year.

Just a reminder to everyone, pace yourselves. It's a long two months, rumors fly around daily-and a lot aren't true. They will have a very nice roster by the end of everything!

But where do we stand with All Wright?

Dunno if this has been mentioned but not only is he playing for Roger Powell at Valpo, but his father Joe Wright was also teammates with BU at Kansas State in the 80's.

Gotta feel pretty good about our chances on that basis.

It's a shame he's leaving Valpo for the Rev's sake though. There just isn't going to be such a thing as a sophomore returning to a mid-major after a big freshman year anymore.

He won't be one of the 2 big time lands, but I think they can get him.
The more I think about roster construction- I think a guy like All Wright makes the most sense in the shooter roll (he has a more complete game than thst but that will be his primary value)

If we’re prioritizing keeping
Kylan
Tre
Tomi
Morez
Then adding Sarr (I think we’ll should prioritize spend for him, he’s the highest upside and there isn’t another wing in the portal like him)

That’s our starting 5 and adding Wright who will get significant minutes off the bench and Big Z- which will take significant dollars, a backup point guard (which could be Ty - I would be a big fan of that) then we likely have our team with Davis and Jakstys presumably returning. Wagner and Lee presumably redshirt or one of them is a 10th man type role

That a very good team that had enough continuity from last year that I think we can be a final four type team
