My first question about ALL WRIGHT or any other possible transfer. Is Brad jumping at the first one he sees? He told us Ben was an elite 3 point shooter upper 30's if I remember correctly but that wasn't right. There were some nights he couldn't hit the backboard. My point is we need someone who can score period. Someone like a Tonje, Braden Smith., someone who is not afraid of contact and get to the basket. The Illini need some brawlers [physical, well toned guys to be a force on the inside too. We need guys who can PLAY DEFENSE and not just watch guys shoot 3's all night long.

I’m going to semi dox myself🤣 a little with this, but it’s awesome so…

My best friend who I met at the UofI made me an honorary Uncle to his two beautiful girls. (now 5 and 7)

When they sing Three Little Birds, instead of “don’t worry, about a thing”, they sing “don’t Warren, about a thing”.🤗🧡

And if that’s not the sweetest thing you hear today, then you’re in for a really good day!

Just a reminder to everyone, pace yourselves. It's a long two months, rumors fly around daily-and a lot aren't true. They will have a very nice roster by the end of everything!

You know roller coasters are pretty safe, but it still feels like you are going to get jettisoned at a moment's notice.

And no offense to our other benevolent insiders, but Indy going Zero Dark Thirty has me feeling like Linus when Lucy sent away his security blanket.

Personally, I would love to have him back because Ty is an easy player to root for.

Team-wise, roster fit and experience have been overriding factors for team success in the #NIL era. I just think it's too early to know if Rodgers fits with the overall roster. He isn't a primary player or star, so you need to see how those star players shake out before deciding the best fit for the rest of the players.
I agree with you - if Ty can be the backup PG, which we need one and we won’t find someone who knows the offense better than I think he fits, he can backup the 1-3 positions and with Tomi/Big Z being shooters at the 5, we’ll have at least 3 shooters on the floor at all times and I think that works

If we need to get another backup PG, a shooter off the bench and a big man off the bench, I don’t think Ty has a role if we keep everyone we are saying we’ll keep

I’d love to hear from insiders on how truthful “sat out to work on his PG skills” really is. I believe what people are referencing is a comment a TV announcer made during a game. What was he going to say when asked why he is sitting out — I’m butt hurt cuz I wasn’t going to get the role/minutes I want so I’m sitting out? I see no scenario besides a rash of injuries at the PG position that he ever plays PG at Illinois or at any high major program. When Indy or someone else throws out the name of a PG as a possible transfer for Illini, invariably there are comments about that player’s 3-pt%. Imagine the comments if that player’s career numbers from 3 were 0-1.

So please stop with the PG talk. He played “PG” on that team because of the roster makeup and BU couldn’t land a PG transfer. I’m not saying Ty doesn’t have some skills that could help the team. But if his expected role is similar to what it would have been this year, I’m not sure why he would be happy next year with that role. Maybe sitting out has changed his expectations. BU and staff have a better grasp on that than I do. Or maybe his back channeling has made him realize the market for a guy with his limitations isn’t as great as he thought. In that case it probably makes sense from his perspective to come back and play for a coach who values what he can do and knows how to use him. Regardless, I wouldn’t throw any kind of big money at him. Other than normal NIL inflation, I wouldn’t offer him more than he collected this year. Make him highest paid glue guy as someone suggested? He was probably the highest paid healthy practice player or close to it this year.

Don't want to alarm anyone, but Illinois does need to pony up for Morez Johnson. I'm pretty sure they will, but it's not the slam dunk that some think it is.

Reports on X of him hitting the portal are bogus, though.
MJ was shamefully underutilized, especially in the early and middle part of the season, as BH was getting 30 minutes a game to lay bricks. MJ didn’t come here to ride the pines behind a slow mid major player. I believe it will take some serious schmoozing and $ to get MJ back. For Brad to favor a “shooter” who couldn’t shoot and was only going to be here for one year over a potential multi year star bordered on criminal.

I meant this more as OSU is planning for his departure and not this move will force him out. He averaged 36 minutes a game. The didn’t need a backup PG.

Always need one... PG1 goes down with an injury, lets say (or really any of the 100000000x reasons that aren't because he is playing for us next year)

I kind of feel like Boswell & Thornton would be too redundant... they'll both want to start... can we play multiple 6'2 guards for 90 percent of the game? (maybe... they're both strong/tough just lacking in height dept)

I live in Evansville, and my IU fan buddies want to know some incoming transfer rumors. Anyone got any?

I know it's early but who do we think are our realistic/dream options to transfer in?

I'm dreaming of Isaac McKneely . How realistic is he?

Also, Adrian Wooley looks pretty good...

Can we please get Donavan Dent from New Mexico lobos? 22pts. 6.5 assist per game, him and BAM in back court would be monstrous.
Sure! You have a couple million or 3 lying around you would like to donate to the cause? Thanks in advance!

They would both start without a doubt. They both play bigger, rebound, are experienced and are solid defenders. Personally that may be the best backcourt in the country. If Boz finishes like he finished then I'd be stoked. He started shooting it better and Thorton was around 38% from 3 last year. Both shoot FTs well. Those two would be awesome.

Nojus hitting the portal this AM... cannot remember his recruiting story but was a teammate of Morez in HS at Rita before the mass exodus of Brown, Nojus and Rez.

Has also been a longtime teammate of KJ from their Lithuanian national team days...

Would be interesting to see if they kick the tires on him.

@Indy Illini Fan Any rumblings on Nojus?

If we’re prioritizing keeping
Kylan
Tre
Tomi
Morez
Then adding Sarr (I think we’ll should prioritize spend for him, he’s the highest upside and there isn’t another wing in the portal like him)

That’s our starting 5
I think they are starting the stud transfer pg, w Sarr coming off the bench like Riley was for much of the year.
