This continues to be the worst tournament I can remember. What do we have to do to get a classic finish, or even a good game for 40 minutes?

Maryland-Colorado State I suppose, but that one took place when everyone here was depressed about the Illini/Kentucky so doesn't even really count. Sure hope we get a couple better games tomorrow night.
Looks like you have your answer right now.

Every player that played for Texas Tech tonight (except Christian Anderson who is a freshman) are transfers.

I'm sorry, good comeback whatever, Texas Tech has ZERO reason to be in the elite eight as far as their team goes. JUST LOOK at how that bracket just blew for them. As much as we want to point the finger at various things, Illinois just hasn't had that, and its unfortunate.

And we gotta to stop with this "we got the best draw" thing on selection sunday. You NEVER know about ur draw until hindsight. KY was BY A MILE the best 3 seed.

Duke and Florida have been on a collision course since February. They're the two best teams and I think it's going to play out this way. This is just about the chalkiest tournament that I can remember.

Hoping it's not that case in the years to come.
Yep. Those are the two best teams. Whoever wins it all between the two will basically be last year's UConn.

No. That UConn team was the best team in who knows how many years and by tourney point differential, that was the best team ever.

Both Duke and Florida have played single-digit tourney games already... and UConn last year - none of their tourney games were less than 16pt victories, had multiple 30+ pt victories, and they beat pretty much all the best teams that year (Illinois, Alabama, Purdue, etc).

I fear Bama made two games worth of 3’s and will be like 2-34 against Duke. And Sears will be 0-11.

That UConn team was uniquely dominant, no doubt. But I think this tournament is uniquely top heavy, with a couple dominant teams that will have to get past each other. We'll never know since teams from different seasons don't face each other, but I wouldn't be surprised if FL or Duke exceeds UConn on the metrics sites. Auburn and Houston are in that discussion too. Full disclosure I have Duke in my bracket, but the FF this year should be great games.

The Final Four games may be good, but this tournament has been a real snoozer overall. Very few upsets, and even the upsets have been talented, but underachieving teams beating overachieving but flawed teams (Arkansas over St. John’s) or teams ravaged by injuries (Ole Miss over Iowa State). Feels more like European soccer where the teams with the money win.

I think it has been the very strong coaches. Look at the handful of upsets and their coaches: Will Wade, Chris Beard, Ben McCollum, Richard Pitino, Niko Medved. Every single one of them could end up getting a job upgrade this year. All but Beard already have. Then you have Calipari with one of the highest payrolls in college basketball.

But overall, I agree. This has been the most boring NCAA tournament ever, imo. It is due to the combination of free transfers and NIL. Every mid-major star leaves. Even the lower tier high major teams can't hang on to their best players, and when people are throwing around $2 m for Josh Dix, it is only going to get worse.

Rooting for all B1G to win here. It's definitely the lesser of 4 evils.

Evil 1 - SEC has 5 teams in Elite 8
Evil 2 - Satan move on
Evil 3 - samscum moves on
Evil 4 - Oh NOOOOO purdont and the angry elf and meat chicken (aka scUM) all advance

I'll take Evil 4 today.

Rooting against all B1G teams. Those are the teams we’re directly recruiting against.

Not too concerned about our ability to recruit, however we also recruit against perceptions that playing in another conference is better than playing in a B1G that continues to be "down". And it is also great to play in a conference that remains strong and gives a lot of opportunities to play Q1 and Top 25 opponents.

As a Bama/Illini fan I am pretty happy about the year. Illinois made the round of 32 and Bama to the Elite 8 for the 2nd year in a row. Sears just comes up big during March Madness and Aiden Holloway is a stud. Since I can't stand Duke, I am hoping they both replicate their performances from last night.
