Are you saying that he development under our coaching staff? That would squash a lot of narratives..
Haha, yes- even more than development in mind is that they featured him and allowed him to shine and he went from a second round pick to a lottery pick and jumped a lot of other foreign players

It’s basically what Kentucky has been selling recruits - they hasn’t made a sweet 16 in 6 years until this year, but they were getting guys drafted in the lottery and kept getting top talent to go there. We need to be making that pitch now to the Sarr’s of the world

I want to see a billionaire from a small school just buy a national title. Like the Ivy League schools have tons of mega rich alum. Have them make the Ivy League become the dominant power for 1 year just to show what a farce this new system is.
I have thought the same thing.

We’re very lucky here. I’m on the Premium UNC board and their portal thread is an epic disaster. Full blown panic and anger over there. Quite the different mood from here.
Couldn't happen to a finer group of fans.

@illini0440 might be peaking a bit behind the curtain here but I remember you mentioned he's traveling a few days ago, do the five or so de facto insiders all know each other, or is it kind of a game of Clue?

Obligatory apologies if it's been asked before...
🤔. He just messaged me last week talking about work so I’m just assuming he’s travel by this week.

Aren't they all just Tyler Underwood's friends? Maybe Brad's daughters too (that's how we know which recruits follow them on socials)?

Even if Rez hits 30 % from three, on any given play do you want him taking that shot, or another 30% shooter taking it while Rez sets up under the basket for a put back.?
I'd have to run numbers before I could answer that.

Loss: Morez offensive bounds. Both those gotten directly, and those gotten by others because the defense needs to pay attention to Morez.
Gain: Easy layups on cuts due to the 5 out, and Tomi's passing.
Gain: Opponents have a harder time planning their defense.

POTD. That's exactly right. You don't just go from a guy that never looked at the rim from more than 7 feet out to being a confident and effective perimeter player, who is even a marginal threat to consider defensively. His form might be better, his mechanics might be better, but after a year of non competitive basketball......if you're Brad and staff, you can't gamble outside of committing to him that he will have a role, but the role would be centered around toughness, leadership, effort, rebounding and defense. Anything after that that he gives his gravy.

I don't think that Ty is going to accept that type of role with only two years of eligibility left. He would be a HUGE addition if he took that role on and embraced it because he'd be a critical piece to team success, but if he did.....he'd basically be admitting that he really has no plans to pursue an NBA career, but his focus would be Turkey, China or an assistant coaching job.

That works be hugely mature and self aware, but you don't see many 20/21 year olds in that head space when other coaches will be promising him more.
Ty averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds and 4 assist the 11 games TSJ missed last year. Brad said he wanted 3 things for next year. Get older, get more athletic and better defensively. Ty checks all those boxes. Also a great teammate. I have no problem of him getting 20-25 minutes if chooses to stay an Illini
