Is there such a thing as a post-season review for a coach? Probably not like an annual review for many employees (since coaches and ADs are rather different). Still, I'd love to hear Underwood explain his plains. Watching the perspiration trickle down the brow might provide some sort of balm for the turnstile roster-churn.

Our not-so-plugged-in staff wanted to bring in AJ Storr last year. Talk about not a good locker room guy. Anyone connected to the Badgers program could have told you that. Anyone.

college basketball is in so few words , ruined

football , I will say has been improved slightly with the changes of late .
but basketball has been ruined . I doubt the toothpaste can get put back into the tube
The destruction of the program development system has ruined college basketball and the destruction of the conference and bowl system has ruined college football.

It's just really, really sad. I loved college sports like I loved few other things. The idea of the Big Ten meant a lot to me. Gone forever, in pursuit of ephemeral and short-term gain.

You are welcome to that view, and need not defend it. I will say: my view is that Morez Johnson has the potential -- which I think he'll reach -- to be a much bigger contributor to a winning NCAA team, as compared to Ty. I say that while being a Ty booster.

Except 4 stars do NOT play right away at every program lmao. Look at all the sweet 16 teams rn and tell me how many 4 star freshman are playing more than 20 mpg.

Yes, Humrichous should have been benched, but are we forgetting the stretch of over a month where Riley was shooting 13% from the field? We’re acting like everything should have been known from the future prior to making decisions
We had the same results when Ben was playing and when he wasn't playing. Blow out wins and blow out losses in both cases.

I hate the state of college athletics now, NIL Sucks
What NIL? This is the DIA directly negotating with athletes to stay and trying to figure out what donor is going to cover the cost.

NIL was always meant to be that players could benefit from their likeness through sponsorship deals. What it has become is pay to play and is basically like any other league, only without any sort of rules or contract making or collective bargaining. It is the worst of the old system and the newly theorized system smashed into one cosmic horror.

I think Underwood has been pretty bad at adjusting to the new world of college basketball. He has absolutely recruited over guys and just said, oh I won't cut you, I'll just take some guy exactly like you and sit you on the bench, unless of course you'd like to leave on your own. No one can possibly say Underwood has shown loyalty to his players. So when the players don't show loyalty in return should we really be shocked.

People have asked, how does Painter do it? Well Painter has always been a system recruiter. He will not bring in guys he thinks could damage the team culture. He would rather bring in Braden Smith ranked #200 who has the skillset he wants and develop him instead of a top 50 guy that will demand the ball and cause problems in the locker room. So when you bring in that type of guy, and build a culture of team development, and of course when you win a lot, it's much easier to keep guys around.

We don't do that. We bring in, whomever Underwood thinks he can get. If that forces the hand of Goode, Harris, Hansberry, Rodgers, Dainja, etc to leave, that's the way it has been. I think the past year he made some real bad evals. I have no idea why he went after Booth. I personally never liked what I saw from Humrichous, Jake Davis made me scratch my head. Underwood has shown no interest in developing who he's got.

We have absolutely got to return Boswell, Ivisic, and White. History has shown, you can't bring in 3 or 4 new starters and expect to have a great season, no matter who those starters are. Unfortunately, it looks like we're headed that direction AGAIN.

I think Tomi stays. But it’s up to donors at this point
What donor in his right mind wouldn't want Tomi to stay? For that matter, if it's up to donors then why would it even be a possibility that Ben is back, unless he accepts a bench role?

I don't think the conspiracy theories about BH having dirt on Brad (even the conspiricists don't really think that, they're just angry, as am I). I think BU fell in love with his Golden State Warriors plan, inexplicabably forgetting that 18 year shooters will never, ever, ever be Splash Brother performers IN COLLEGE. Someday? Maybe. These guys? Never. It is just boneheaded to think you can build the NBA-style offense that BU drooled over, in COLLEGE.

it’s funny you bring this up because the biggest issue that Purdue fans cite for their lack of success this season is Painters refusal to use the portal to upgrade his talent. It’s almost like no matter what style you do, fans will find a way to criticize if you’re not doing well

I'll say this...

It's the wild west still...there are no rules. Any player can take a visit, sign a sheet, get a check, verbally commit...absolutely NONE of that matters until they are actually in uniform and playing in games for you. And EVEN THEN, they can walk away at any time after.

It's the way it is.

Also...to me, this will be Brad's biggest off-season. We are coming to the table with (essentially) nothing in place for returners (Kylan, maybe Tomi, who knows).

He's gonna need to build a tournament level team from scratch.

It's gonna be a tall task.
Coming off of a year where he just had to do it 🫠
