If the reports on Tre wanting a bigger/more featured role and Morez wanting to shoot more jump shots, here’s what I don’t get: Tre’s role at the professional level will be largely what he was here, an off ball cutter who can hit corner 3s. No one is going to pay phim serious money to be an alpha scorer. Likewise with Morez. He’s like a Tschibwe type player. No one is going to pay him to shoot 3’s. And there were rumors Ben was unhappy with his role this year as well, but does he’s getting paid professionally to do anything other than spread the floor and shoot 3’s?

Think guys just need to be realistic about what their skill sets are.
Ben's more likely to be working at his dad's painting company lol.

if you are a resident of a tax state , like Illinois , it’s not automatic you are a Tenn resident for tax purposes just because you go to school in Knoxville

It’s not like any of those players wouldn’t still be doing the things you mentioned. They understand their strengths. They just want to be able to showcase other aspects of their games. I doubt Morez expects to be or even wants to float around by 3-point line like Tomi all the time. He just wants to show he can hit a mid-range jumper and occasional 3 sometimes. His stock goes up if he continues to improve his inside game as well as shows other offensive wrinkles to his game.

I don’t know why Morez is leaving. If the money numbers being thrown around are true, it is hard not to believe it played a role. But are you even listening if your expectations as far playing and development mesh with coach’s plan? It sucks that Morez and others are leaving. But I can’t really blame them. They should be trying to maximize their time in college for a better future whether that is padding their bank account now or developing their games to make more money down the line, and preferably both with education thrown in there too.

I will say that what is concerning is if kids are leaving because of actions or behaviors of staff that aren’t necessarily role/playing time related. Losing guys because of money sucks. Losing guys because of role/minutes sucks, but coaches around the country have to balance such things all the time and make decisions on whether to acquiesce or wish the player good luck for the betterment of the team. But if other things are coming into play (and I have no idea if they are), then that needs to be taken care of.

I agree with you Rockford, but I think that this is something that we need to take into account when we are recruiting. (The rest of this not directed at you Rockford, just using your line as a jumping off point.)

If we are recruiting a big who we want to retain, maybe it matters if he wants to shoot a lot of 3's. If we are recruiting a junior we want to retain, maybe it matters that he wants to be a star his senior year.

If we recruit players who are not realistic about their skill sets, whose fault is it when they leave? I do not think it is just theirs. If we have to lie to get them to stay, I agree we should let them go. But how did we end up with the bad match in the first place?

Agreed, but also does not mean either of them were specifically referring to Illinois.

Certainly possible but could also be a general commentary on the NCAA today.
That’s fair - I was reacting to the “not a good look”and thought it was about Illinois, but looking at their actual tweets it sounds more like commentary on kids wanting to transfer in general

If Tre can’t hit NBA three pointers at a high percentage he has not shot of playing in NBA

Boy O' boy... This recruiting thread loses its appeal without insiders.

Thanks to the numbskulls who DM them anything but positive messages. Idiots.

Right there with you, been very difficult the last few days for me to read anything sourced outside of Loyalty with impartial, non-orange glasses.

Advice I received years ago was to never give anything but courteous answers, especially when you are moving to a competitor. Don't burn bridges, but no obligation to help.

You are fortunate if you are getting useful information from them as my experience is the opposite of yours.
we had non complete clauses in our employment contracts.........

I hate the transfer portal and nil. Ruining the game. When they said they were going to pay players I imagined it would be in advertisements and jersey sales etc. I didn’t know it would just be straight up paying players. The rules need to change as it’s a flustercuck in the entire league. It’s not a coincidence that the big programs and #1 seeds are performing so well.
