BAM
Dix
Sarr
Yaxel
Tomi

Ty
Big Z
fight for remaining guard rotation

That's a darn good team... Not likely all of this comes to fruition, but still
how likely do you think Ty will agree to a bench role after redshirting after a starting on an E8 team?

Why? You didn't like a guy who was brought in to play the role of being a spot up shooter, but ended up being the backup 5, which he wasn't the least bit prepared to do?

A 34% three point shooter, which is one of the better percentages, on a team that shot the team like trash was one of your big issues?

I don't think that people(don't think that I'm calling just you out), understand what was happening last year. Ben was put in a horrific spot. Some was due to injury and some was due to the roster having absolutely zero depth in the frontcourt.

If Ben came back as the second or third guy off the bench, he'd be phenomenal in that role. Not tooany teams have 6'9" coming off the bench that is a threat from the perimeter and in a pinch, he can old his own and give you some minutes in the paint.

That's a good kid that did everything that he was asked to do and I'm sure he didn't sign up for a lot of it. Not sure why you're feeling the need to stab him in the back?
I literally don't care at all if he was one of the best three shooters on a team that shot like trash. That's not a solid endorsement for a guy who was supposed to be a three-ball sharpshooter.

Tomislav Ivisic was also one of the best three percentages on the team at 35.7%, and that is impressive because he's our 7-foot center, not our three specialist.

He seems like a good kid. I am far less convinced he helps this team. He is at best a replacement level guy off the bench (and not the first guy off the bench).

Yeah fair - we'll see. I will say that suddenly it seems like there's a lot of smoke on some of these, and some do seem to make sense.

From my complete outsider perspective, our targets in order of most to least likely to commit would be:
1) Big Z. Seems like a no-brainer for both sides. Might already be a done deal at this point?
2) Sellers - of his self-professed top 4, we would seem to be BY FAR the most likely to make the tournament given our track record. So I could see that being attractive to him if he wants to come be Justin Harmon v2. If he's more interested in a bigger bag, then maybe we get outbid.
3) Sarr - obvious connection with KJ and GA. But his recent high profile performances with the big boys certainly make me a bit nervous that the blue bloods jump in with big money that we don't want to match. But if Duke is indeed the only main competition, and if they are likely to get Ament, maybe we can seal the deal here.
4) Dix. This one wouldn't surprise me if it fell through. About the only thing in favor here in my view is the insider posters saying Brad really wants him.
5) Sandfort - maybe if Dix does come he'd want to also? I don't know. I don't see how we end up with more than 2 of Ty, Jake, and Sandfort - and maybe just having 1 of those is the most likely scenario at the end of the day?
6) Yaxel - seems pretty unlikely to me. He seems great so I'd love to be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear he ends up getting 3m or so.
We might get any of Sarr, Dix and Yaxel (sounds like an Animaniacs law firm), but neither we nor any other school can afford all three of them.

... No chance May is going to let Morez be Wolf.. Shoot, maybe best case scenario he lets Morez shoot the occasional 3 like Goldin...
Lot of coaches in the transfer portal become those sleazy dudes at a bar. Yeah, what they say isn't going to happen, but once you figure it out. It's too late

Apologies for intervening because I have no actual info.

But, I do get the sense Ty is a smart man and a smart player. The fact that he’s even contemplating it shows me that. He’d be a hell of a keep for the Illini in my opinion. And he’d be a hell of an add if he chooses to leave.

I believe we’d be better off with him and what he brings to the table. Very difficult to replicate.

Go Illini

@JonRothstein

Illinois transfer Morez Johnson has cut his list to the following programs, per his HS coach RaShay Russell.Ohio StateKansas Michigan Tennessee Arkansas Kentucky
Why would Morez choose any of those schools. What big Man has Ohio State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky (under Mark Pope) Kansas . Kansas didn’t do Crap with Hunter Dickinson or Flory Bidunga and Arkansas and John Calipari couldn’t even develop Big Z . All these schools are going to use Morez just like Illinois was using him. If Morez chooses any of those schools I’m convinced it was all about Money. Ohio State and Michigan are you kidding me? If Morez leaves Illinois for Ohio State or Michigan that’s just a clown move

People liked this post so much the last time I said it, so I'll say it again.

Even if Brad Underwood himself believes and pencils in Ty as a bench player, Ty will be a starter.

In the heat of the moment, the guys who can guard will play.

Yes you're probably right. Sarr seems firmly in the "big fish" category now, so if you got both him and Dix, that's probably it for that type of guy.

I wanted morez to go somewhere I could still root for him to do well.

I feel like I made a good post and am happy when the notification hits that I got a few likes, Indy and LVille must be riding high on all these likes for their comments. Thanks fellow loyalty insane asylum members!

Danny Wolf is going to the NBA Dusty May already said that . Michigan would use Morez just like Illinois was using him. Whatever school Morez ends up at is the schools that were tampering making back channel deals. I do not believe Dusty May is that type of coach and I do not believe Morez will end up at the University of Michigan.I see Arkansas or Kentucky or another team not mentioned .
