I’ve gone to it a number of years now. Would highly recommend going if you haven’t before. I’m far, very far away from being a high roller and so are most that go. I see mostly your average Illini fans there having a great time for a great cause. Please go if you have wondered about going before. You won’t regret it.
Also I have no interest personally if you sign up or not. It’s just a lot of fun.

Alright...basketball question for the basketball thread, mainly for the insiders: what's the scuttlebutt on Jakstys? From practices, does he seem to have the ability to make a leap this year, or is he still a long-term project? I had high hopes that he might be a diamond in the rough when he brought him in. Specifically wondering if he might surprise us and be a higher ceiling version of what we wanted from Humrichous.

Is he even coming back? I haven't seen an announcement. Maybe he's not a social media guy.

Staff saw more progress from him in year 1 than anticipated. Still don’t think he’ll be a contributor until 26-27 at the very earliest if he sticks around

I didn't know where to put this, but I came across this video of Deon Thomas talking about how Bruce Pearl apologized to him. Like Deon said, the apology was too late:
Deon is such a class act. He never deserved the hell Pearl put him through. Deon is truly a man of integrity, and a wonderful representative and role model for the University of Illinois. I’m glad he told Satan that he was not forgiven because what Pearl did was evil, not just overzealous. Pearl meant to ruin Deon and Jimmy and Lou so that the Illinois program would be sanctioned, and Iowa could gain a distinct advantage. The fact that Satan has NEVER been held accountable for any of his cheating yet is beyond disgusting. The facts that Deon rose above Pearl’s destruction as the Illini’s all-time leading scorer and now is the Voice of the Illini are glorious. Karma is a &*+#%.
P.S. I can’t wait to buy Deon’s book…

There's no doubt in my mind that Bam will be all-conference next season. Since he'll be a senior, I feel like we forget just how young he is. He's not a 23-year-old, is what he is, guy. He's still so far from a finished product. He's finally 20 and he just started to scratch the surface of his talent by the end of the season. You can tell the maturity he might not have had at Zona is there now, both mental and physical. He finally started to understand that, despite being young, he has a grown man's body and can dish out more punishment than he'll receive driving to the basket. And I really do think his struggles from 3 have so much more to do with how hard he's working on defense to be the guy on that side of the ball. One more off-season with Fletch, he'll have his legs under him and get that shot back, too.

I know there's a lot of stressing in the recruitment thread about where the production will come from. Look, I get it. But between KB and Tomi, I think we have two of the top guys in the conference already.

I just completed two interesting searches and stopped after successfully going 4 for 4:

Top basketball programs of all time: Illini were top 15 in all three seaches (and Top 10 in three different decades: 1950's, 1980's, 2020's). We also have the third most Final Four appearances without a Natty, behind only Houston and Oklahoma St.

Top basketball/football programs combined right now (in 2025): Illini were 15th, one spot ahead of Mizzou
