Plenty of people around here have been asking… It’s just nice to see a kid stay put and let coaches develop him.I can't be the only one that finds it sad, that in this era of college basketball it is apparently news that you're NOT transferring. This insinuates there is an assumption that everyone will transfer.
I like Jake a lot. You can always use a guy who knows his role and can execute it. He kind of reminds me of a smaller Jack Ingram. I just really hope we can manage to have a balanced roster so we don't put him on the Flaggs and Queens of the world. That's not a winning formula.
Good to see some of these guys coming back. Jake is a nice player to have coming off the bench. Tough kid who seems to always make the right play.
Has he applied for another year of eligibility?I agree. His rebounding, hustle and defense improved significantly the last 10 games. Continuity is important to culture so keeping Ben and Jake is important. Also keeps with "get old stay old" mantra.
Once he realized he did not have to launch a 3 pointer every time he touches the ball he added more value. He was passable guarding 5's when Tomas needed a break and Morez was injured. I also think working with Fletch will improve his strength and athleticism. I suspect the game will slow down for him next year and he will be a more effective shooter.
He will never be a great defender but if he uses his size and continues strong effort I think he is playable. I like him as spot starter and 15-20 mpg off bench. I think he realizes he is not NBA bound and may just be enjoying another year in college at a good P4 program
I’d love to be proven wrong but I don’t think Jake is going to be a 15-20 minute guy, and that’s ok. The dude hits 3’s, crashes the glass and hustles. He’s as good as it gets for an 8th/9th guy off the bench. Keeping him is a W.Love me some Jake! Hoping he steps it up and gets 15-20 quality minutes each game.
I thought he was a little bit too timid last season. With permission from the coaching staff, he probably needs to look for his shot a little more and stop deferring so much.
It really was ridiculous how effective Domask was at that. He has likely ruined booty ball for all future players that attempt it at Illinois.I would get so frustrated whenever he tried to back down a defender. He never passed out of it, and I don't remember him ever making a shot with that play. Every time it happened, 100% chance of an awkward shot that wouldn't fall.
He looked like he was playin his little brother and his buddies in the driveway half the timeIt really was ridiculous how effective Domask was at that. He has likely ruined booty ball for all future players that attempt it at Illinois.
More like he ruined the coaches concept of how effective it is to have a wing guy post up. There’s a reason it doesn’t happen often in 2025. If there was no Domask, there’s no chance BH gets a few dozen low effeciency attempts at it this year.It really was ridiculous how effective Domask was at that. And shooting 3s…Big Jake. Nice to have some continuity and culture back.
