I always liked that Brad Underwood was a tough coach. One who developed tough players. But overall, these past few seasons, Illinois has not been a tough, physical team. KJ, Tomi, Sarr, Traore, Gonzalez: are any of these Europeans tough, physical players? I like their ability and skills, but they might not fit the type of team that I thought Brad always wanted to have.
well Traore was viewed as a top 5 NBA draft pick, perhaps #2 at the beginning of the season. He hasn't had a great season, but I'd guess he will still go to the NBA. But never hurts to ask.

This is awesome, if true. Makes me want him back.

🤣

It was brutal with Ben. He can back down a smaller guy many inches shorter than him. But he gets zero lift and front irons them. I can't recall one that didn't either.

If Ben is a 8-10th man, cool. He was awful as a starter as he was 33% from 3 (which would rank around 220th of 364 D1 teams if I recall correctly). He was 38% on 3s as a reserve. I still don't think he offers anything that Big Z/Davis/Jakstys wouldn't in limited minutes. I'd prefer some athletes and physicalness instead of another player than offers the same

How on earth did we get out-bid by Creighton? No offense to them, but if we really want a guy, we shouldn't ever lose them to Creighton.
They don't have football to suck up the majority of their $20.1M. It goes to basketball instead.

50%?...likely a tremor caused an extra zero while typing. My recall is that he got the shot easily, shot maybe 10 in the course of the season, and I have no memory of more than a single make at best...maybe none.

As for the veracity of my memory, I do recall the kid from PSU as well as Marcus Domask both converting 60-70% with that shot.
1 or 0 makes on those all year? come on, there were games where he had more than 1

57 seconds in

30 secinds in

10:58 and 19 mins in

16 seconds in

Theres 5 close/mid range fade makes right there and im sure there are more

My speculation and opinion:

1. Pickett - 75% on 100+ total shots
2. Domask - 60% on 55-65 total shots
3. Ben H - ~50% on 10-12 total shots

Not meaning to be argumentative in any way, but just wondering why you would think this? He does not have a no-contact tag.

"like this" <-- Like what, exactly? Is he too good or something?

I mean, I think 90% of the kids in the portal probably have some sort of list in mind before they enter
The post I saw said he entered with a do not contact tag but I'm sure there are generally ways around that anyway.

But he was a 3 year ivy league player and had a great year last year where he could have gotten paid very well so i'd assume he's entering now because he has enough credits to graduate and that he values the education aspect even if he wants to play professionally.

Princetons season has been over since March 15th and he's entering now so I would assume that means a team lured him into the portal and that he likely has a year long graduate program in mind to complete.

Of course, there are always Juniors and Seniors in the transfer portal that the Illini could use, and that they should recruit. I will give you a few examples.

6'5" 188-pound Senior SG Jarron Pierre Jr of Jacksonville State. He averaged 21.6/5.5/3.8 while shooting 42.4/38.2/81.0 this past season. He's a bucket-getter who shot a solid 38.2% on 3-pointers. He's a tall guard who could easily play alongside Boswell in the starting backcourt. Or he could be a Vinnie Johnson microwave scorer off the bench. Chad Lanier of N Florida transferred up to Tennessee without missing a beat this past season.

6'3" 180-pound Senior SG Jacari White of N Dakota State. He averaged 17.1/4.3/2.3 while shooting 45.2/39.8/85.2 this past season. Like Jarron Pierre above, I think that Jacari white could potentially start alongside Boswell, or sub in at both SG and PG.

6'10" 230-pound Junior PF Reed Bailey of Davidson. He averaged 18.8/6.1/3.8 while shooting 47.7/41.5/76.8 this past season. Bailey should be a "must get" transfer in my opinion. He's the big PF that everyone on this site has been clamoring for. He could fit in seamlessly with the Ivisic twins in the Illinois frontcourt. He shot 41.5% on 3-pointers! (Better than any Illini player in 24-25) his 3.8 apg shows a willing and able passer. But a lot of the big-time programs are after Bailey. So, I'm not sure if we could break into his top list of suitors at this point in time.

6'8" 235-pound Junior PF Duncan Powell of GA Tech. He averaged 12.2/5.4/0.8 while shooting 44.1/35.8/68.7 this past season. He'd be a ready-to-play PF for Illinois next season. Capable of starting or coming off the bench. A lot of toughness and grit, while being a decent shooter also. His size and stats remind me somewhat of Quincy Guerrier when he transferred to Illinois.

Truthfully I'm not saying want him to come here it popped up on .y Google news so I figured I'd share for those that would want to read it.i really don't know much about storr other then his stats and what's been said online.i really hope we can do better but as far as the buy low on him that's been talked about I get it.if he's will8ng to come here and be the 6th or 7th guy and be a team player I could see value as he can put up points and that's never a bad thing to have come off bench.as far as our offense im not mad at it or really think it needs to change our coaching staff had a couple miss evaluations on shooters and career shooters had bad years but our offense was ranked really high.it wasn't our offense that give us a so-so season it was our defense.get the right shooters and athleticism and defensive players in place i have no doubt this season will better.ILL
