It's funny. Quite a few people have complained we don't win contested, high-cost recruitments. I feel like people are forgetting we beat out Kentucky and Arizona for Will just last year. He certainly wasn't cheap and it sure as heck was contested. Both Zona and UK thought they had him till the very end. I remember someone on here posted a video the night before he committed of two middle-aged Zona fans in goofy flat-brim hats just so darn sure Will was going there.

Every year people freak out. Every year we find solutions. We already have a solid core back, unlike last year. We have money. We have the sales pitch and two of the best assistants in the business out pitching it. The season is neither won nor lost on April 15th. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Let the process play out and we'll see where we are over the summer.

Wild speculation here, maybe I'm reading into things that aren't there...over in one of the coaching thread topics someone said that their are rumors that a ex-CPL coach may be hired. One of the insiders confirmed their has been talks. Didn't Chin recruit Ace? Is Chin the ex-CPL coach?

Haha I'll always remember this 😂. what's even more laughable is how their segment/video right after was about how it was no problem they missed on riley because they had Sarr locked up 😆.

coming into this off-season, a reasonable expectation was probably that we could get at least two stud/no doubt starter level guys (alongside bringing back kylan and tomi). likeliest we probably won't even get one. far from a great offseason in my estimation.

Exactly ^
That was your expectation. For anyone that's followed recruiting for a while, it was a hope.

April 1 of every year college basketball should just start an auction. Bring them all on stage have an auctioneer highest bidder gets them.

Miller's price has gone up from what I heard. Think the staff is debating on paying it (not matching but somewhere in the ballpark) or moving on. Still want to have money for two big additions, so can't overpay massively.
This seems to be a theme with every player that we've been favored to get or who we are pushing hard for.

We've had one portal addition and his brother being here was something nobody else had to offer. We weren't ever losing that.

Literally every other target got better offers somewhere else because we didn't want to "overpay" or the player "wasn't worth it".

This exact same thing happened last year in the portal. Literally, the same thing. Our international additions along with a recruiting class(Morez) won the off-season with minimal help from the portal.

There are really only a couple of conclusions to arrive at:

1)We've underestimated, again, what the market is for these players.

2)Our targets are poor and they really don't want to be here.

3)We're middle of the pack with regards to NIL resources, not overall resources. This is fine, as long as we're honest about it. There's no shame in admitting that the funds aren't there, but what comes with that are expectations.

We've had a lot of "locks" over the last month and with Sarr, over the last few months, then the circumstances change. They never change in our favor.

What should make anyone believe that our top two targets are going to end up any different than the above?

A)X team came in at the last minute and gave an offer that we wouldn't match.

B)The camp of X person altered the situation

I'm ridin' and dyin' with the path we're being led down, but I'm also becoming a realist.

its the expectation of any contender program. look at michigan for example. we are said to be building a contender program and, allegedly, have the second highest NIL bag in the b10 and top 10-15 nationally. considering those factors, yes, that was the expectation.

He’s been receiving some strong 🍑 offers and with only 1 year left to play … I’ll never blame the kid for taking advantage …

I think this is a situation where he really has a stronger market than many thought …
