(1) There are wild takes on here about Miller being so trash that's he's effectively worthless, but...
(2) There are no responses from folks who want Miller to justify four years of underwhelming (at best) play. Responding with gifs and "lol" to people bringing up real stats about his shooting and negative offensive/defensive splits doesn't wish away his playing history.

He's a flawed player with a long track record and three different programs. He's only been a positive offensive/defensive split player when he played with two All-Americans. This is not a person you spend real money to acquire.
Well said.....

You do run the risk of being accused of "not knowing ball". Any derogatory remarks aimed at the Adam Miller idea will be swiftly dealt with by the all knowing experts of Loyalty.

Pretty sure it's moot at this point. The Storr ship sailed to Ole Miss and apparently the Miller ship is heading a different direction because we can't pay him what other schools can or we don't value him as much. Either rationale kicks the can down the road to the next group of names that pop up.

Couple that with four boards a game. It's not like he just stands on the perimeter and never shoots twos.
He does basically never shoot 2s though. Only 32 2s attempted all year vs 238 3s. That’s 1.07 2s attempted per game vs 7.9 3s attempted per game. And the lack of 2s makes it more likely for that percentage to be so low as opposed to any real trouble with finishing, so it doesn’t really worry me when he’s spraying it from 3 like he is

Apparently, per a valued insider that I trust.....there are other schools that see him as extremely valuable and his premium has gone way up and outside of what we're able/willing to spend, so it really doesn't matter.

I guess I have to ask......why are other schools opening their wallets, significantly, to bring him aboard and we aren't? Is your rationale that we're smarter and more "in the know" than these other programs?

I believe someone made the point that rooting for Miller would be more enjoyable than rooting for last year's team, even if they weren't a better team. Hard to argue with reasoned arguments like that one!

Personally, if we aren't really trying to win, I would like to root for Sister Jean to run the point, I hope she has some eligibility left.

"Underwhelming" in this sense is probably somewhat tied up to his lofty status coming out of high school, and the pretty awesome start to his college career. I also happen to think his year playing for Underwood would be the most relevant year in terms of how we would evaluate him playing here again.

I also think the cost for just rotation-level guys is so much higher (as our great insiders have alluded to) that maybe we just need to adjust our expectations on what they will cost. I, for one, think it's pretty telling how impressive the list is for teams that have reached out to Miller.

I think that it's time that we all come together and agree that our NIL budget has been way overstated.
IMHO, this is not true. What I think better describes the state of the program is that the decision makers are being quite thoughtful as to just who is worth it to the program. Maybe that is just my take alone, but history tells us that throwing big bucks with crossed fingers for players to step up and give their all is quite foolish. But then again, no one can predict what kids see and are willing to sacrifice for the team. We had two big under-performers on last year's team, one that quit and another who didn't and did his best. So even by diligently trying to make your dollars work, you will fail almost every season. We all like the addition of Ivisic and Mirkovic, but what they will do on the floor next year is an unknown to various degrees. Maybe I am alone, but I like how BU is navigating the portal waters. He seems to know far more than anyone here how to spend the dollars. Sadly, for any coach, this is not a supermarket aisle but more of an auction and winners are not predictable as has been proven the last few years.

Good insight. I look at two occurrences:

1)Our successes have not come via the portal, but as you nailed, it's overseas. Why can we not land the domestic transfer talent that we target?

2)The money doesn't seem to be there to upgrade the coaching staff either. I'm not one who bashes any of our assistants, but there are those who initially said there would be changes. That doesn't seem to be happening and I think that TA walked due to him feeling disrespected with the lack of a salary increase(to his liking). Now, there are those concerned that he's going to Mizzou.

You might be 100% right with regards to BU being able to outsmart the market. That said, we were the youngest and most inexperienced team in the country last year and I don't think that was the intent going into the off-season.

I'm kinda curious about where this interested in Adam Miller list was generated?

Might the Irvin/Miller camp be playin this staff like a well tuned fiddle?

I wish we knew the exact $ amount of NIL we had to know if the rumblings we’ve already ran through all NIL funds and everything left is rev share are true. How are we getting outbid on pretty much everybody? Big Z and Mirk were practically locks to come here so no being outbid there, but everyone else…
