And if pay is comparable, which university will give him more visibility and a stronger legacy/reputation?
Legacy? Illinois and i dont think its close. He's already built something here. He doesn't have as much time to build something over there as he did here and Illinois is projected to be as good or better than Tennessee. Visibility, probably Tennessee considering their strength of schedule week in and week out. But quite honestly, that program gets a lot of hype and underperforms and there's a stench to that program right now. Why would you leave for Tennessee for 1 year when you have the opportunity to cement something special at a program you've built something at. Tennessee doesn't have a better team, faces more roadblocks being in the SEC, and doesn't have the education or alumnI base that Illinois has. They're just talked about a lot.

Happy for Josh. He's not an NFL running back, so might as well get paid. But it's also silly to say you're leaving because you do not want to be a backup anymore and then you go to Georgia, who's returning their leading running back who's only a sophomore.

Gotta do better than that. He's an Illinois kid that committed back in December before any of this Tennessee stuff. You look like one of the Volunteer fans reaching for anything. Not very innocent of you, good try though.
Remember this is the institution that hired Pearl as well. Not a fan of TN. Really for any reason (except maybe Nashville).

Anything can happen, but reasons I don't believe Altmyer is leaving:

(a) He's turned down similar opportunities to stay
(b) There are fair critiques about Tennessee's offense hurting QB pro prospects
(c) Altmyer has a very weak connection to Tennessee's staff

It's in the best interest for Altmyer's team to have his name mentioned because losing Altmyer would be defcon1 for Illinois. If Tennessee has chosen to prioritize Altmyer, this is where you have to trust Bielema and Whitman to do whatever it takes to retain him.

Georgia message board happy about the addition. After reading an article and seeing that Josh was 3rd on the depth chart again this year, this isn't horrible, this is more of a good for him. Playing closer to home, making more money and has a chance to be the back up at a national power house. He will get his degree and move on to his Master at UGA.

We were talking about legacy. That was his post. If the money is better fine, but respond to the legacy part. Tennessee in 1 year can accomplish what he has built in potentially 3 years here. In my opinion, but im biased.

Yea, also the same institution that is facing a lawsuit from their last coach for using him as the scapegoat to explain their years of dirty behavior. Its not exactly a proud institution to associate with. But they're willing to pay and thats cause for concern and their sports have been damn good.

Any word on how much $$ for McCray? If nothing else, I hope he walks away with big $$ and is smart with his money.
