Did Illinois pass on Dame Sarr, or did Sarr pass on Illinois? Totally depends on who you talk to.

Adam Miller buzz was also exaggerated, IMO. No way Illinois was paying off handlers.

All eggs in the Adrej basket right now and boy it’s a huge amount of eggs.

You would you bet your eggs on for Sarr now?

Has that egg basket grown beyond the 2.8 to $3 million range that we were talking about to get him onto campus for this visit? I would have to assume we’re now approaching 3.5 million if we want to lock him down before he leaves campus.

I am an avid BU supporter, but the fact that we have all of our eggs in one basket means that this off-season, to date, was horribly mismanaged by ALL involved, including Josh, who I'm sure is 100% involved in overseeing the entire operation.

I think that everyone needs to be somewhat understanding that the market took off. That stuff is beyond anyone's control. It only takes one buyer to set a market into motion and that clearly happened. I don't care what the industry is.

That said, we had opportunities to wrap guys up early and they "weren't worth the money" according to some. Now, we're competing with desperate programs and we are unequivocally one of them. Desperation is a byproduct of supply and demand and the supply of high end quality is gone.

It should be noted that the fans were led to believe that we were a top 10 institution when it comes to NIL. We're not top 5 in our own conference. That's blatantly obvious. I suspect that was the case last year as well, but the market just wasn't at this level yet.

If we whiff here, everyone from the donors to the staff to the fans need to understand that while we are not one of the "have nots", we are not one of the "haves" either.

Probably best to pivot to the Purdue and MSU way of doing things and put the money towards prep recruiting, develope them and focus purely on retention and a one or two off portal addition to supplemental the program.

I agree the 2nd thing is pivotal. But unless the handler is Charles Manson or something, how much should we really care about the 1st, especially for a player we'd only have for one year anyway?
The first matters if the second is a demand to be one of the coaches. I seem to recall that was the case with the Irvins before (and would be overplaying a hand at this point).
