Denver gal Clara Gestsdottir just won the Summit League Championship by five shots. Team is in NCAA field. Golf is beautiful, strange and cruel. Not cruel this time for her.

I've always had a soft spot for Denver: Blackhawks Keith Magnuson and Cliff Koroll played there.

Jake gets the start over Ethan, I have to admit I think this is worth a flyer. Ethan has been very up and down and probably down just a bit too much. Take the in form kid for a championship. I understand that.

Should be some low scores on this front nine. Back nine has a bit more teeth to it. Not an overly long course for these guys and should see some pretty low scores overall.

boys are holding steady in second, behind UCLA. This has to be one of the best fields for the big 10 ever.

trey is putting up some crooked numbers so far but Jake with an even par front is holding the floor. That is a good sign

And just like that, Illinois is -9, four strokes ahead of second place Indiana (?). UCLA struggled on the back 9, falling to -2 with a couple holes to play.

Max is in first, with Ryan and Jake in the top ten. Solid opening day!

The freshmen are stepping up today, both are -2 for the day! Trey is having a great bounce back day, and Jake might make a run at the title. Illini are currently eight strokes up on second-place Indiana.

Blowing up on the back 9 horrendous play. Everyone bogeying 15?? When Indiana had 1 guy bogey it. Just bad. Need Jackson to figure it out for tomorrow. This team isn’t good enough to win competitive events when their best player is this bad. Especilaly when max has a not so great round after what he did yesterday.
