It sounded like Andre was worried about family. Any chance Peja could be an assistant coach? I am sure all the international guys would love that. I am sure he has some good experience he could share.

This does not look like it’s going to be a great three-point shooting team so let’s not shoot 30 of them a game, please and thank you.

A bunch of layups, dunks, midrange jumpers, free throws, and the OCCASIONAL look from three will work just fine.

Can someone please clap back at On3’s biased Chandler Vessels on X for ignoring our elite Euro recruits?

“Stojakovic joins an Illinois team that is coming off of a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament this past season. The Fighting Illini will likely lose leading scorer Kasparas Jakucionis, who is a projected NBA lottery pick. Stojakovic will surely be counted on to fill some of the scoring void he leaves behind.

Andrej Stojakovic is just the second transfer to join Illinois this offseason along with former Arkansas center Zvonimir Ivisic.”

Will go into it more later, but expectations are sky high next year.

Second weekend/beyond or bust. Old team that has high end talent and is very deep.
The challenge is now on the defensive end...and on BU to fit the pieces together and get better at in game adjustments and situational deployment....not easy but he has done well the past two years, especially last year with a team that lacked foot speed on the defensive end. Fortunately, he can put a team on the floor that speaks close to the same language...even though he can't!!

Yet another fascinating roster with some complex problems and unknown chemistry. This should be another riveting season of Illini hoops.

I have no clue if there is another add to this roster that will improve it on both ends, but we will all be checking in daily for the next two months with some hope. My fondest hope is that there is a unified goal that all can buy into completely and fill their roles to the max...while understanding that achieving that goal will be cherished for the rest of their lives.

I'm sure he understands defensive concepts at the PRO level. This might be a win-win.

3 point shot as an ‘occasional’ occurrence hasn’t been a thing since the mid 80s, but I’ll hope for better selection when they’re not falling

All of the F4 teams shot 25+ per game sans Houston who shot 21 per game but were 359th in pace

Anyone hoping for 10-12 attempts per game will be really disappointed (or not, depending if you like shooting 2s more than winning games)

Assuming ~200 mpg to go around, will Ty/Ben be happy with this?
Andrej Stojakovic 31 mpg
Kylan Boswell 30 mpg
Tomislav Ivisic 25 mpg
Mihailo Petrovic 23 mpg
Ty Rodgers 23 mpg
Zvonimir Ivisic 21 mpg
David Mirkovic 17 mpg
Ben H 15 mpg
Jake Davis 10 mpg
Keaton Wagler 3 mpg
Brandon Lee 3 mpg
I dont't think Ben should have that much leverage to be unhappy about playing time.

Ok. I’ll work with you on this. Run the offense and take better quality shots. Last year there was a whole lotta chucking going on.

Don't hold your breath here. These guys are coming here to play in an NBA offense to get to the league quicker. The green light will be afforded to just about everyone, so settle in and prepare for launch.

What a big time land for Underwood and Co. This team is taking shape.

Petro
Boswell
Andre
Rodgers
Tomi

That's my opinion, I don't think Rodgers stayed to come off the bench. Either Rodgers or Big Z will play at the 4. Playing big Z is probably the better option but the Rodgers fan in me would like to see him start.

Happy Jim Carrey GIF
I'm hoping that Mirkovic is good enough to start at the 4. But he probably needs some work/improvement.

I don’t want Indy to @ me but I think Ben coming back is a really positive thing. Shows good faith and relations with the staff. Continuity of returning players. Veteran. Someone we know CAN get hot.

Control his minutes and I see it as a big plus.

Hoping for the big year 2 jump now that is more used to the level of competition
I really don't like Bench HumBrickHouse. Am I the only one who is concerned that he will play 20 min per game and shoot like 33% 3pt?

So my biggest concern is, how do we stop and who do we have that can stop Big Ten teams interior game like Maryland who just ate us alive I don’t see anybody that can stop interior bigs. I applaud what we have accomplished. I still think we needed a banger and we didn’t get one.

lol yes all of that

I may have read too far in to the use of ‘occasional’

It sure seemed like Brad was beholden to justifying what was committed to bringing Ben here based on insider rumblings and questionable decisions. Don’t see that being as big of an issue this year based on the players and experience he has brought in to fight for minutes this year. I credit Ben for sticking it out and meeting that challenge head on this year. Think people will really warm up to him once last years baggage is overshadowed.

I do believe that you're the only one that is concerned about that. I also think that you're still the only one taking shots at the kid by coming up with a name that you think is funny, but it's not. You're getting no laughs.

Try to enjoy the roster construction and toss out the nonsense.
