Several Bulls players, including Ayo, credited Patton for their improved 3 point shooting after Patton spent long hours with them both in the gym and watching film. Interesting idea to use him as a consultant, anyway.Bulls fired Shooting and Player Development Coach Peter Patton. Supposedly a "core group of players was upset by the firing". Don't we need one of those guys?
I don't know anything about him besides what I just read. He played for DePaul in the mid-late 90s, NBA G league for a while, coaching since.
We have one of the most efficient offenses in the country. Why would you want to ruin it by making shots.Several Bulls players, including Ayo, credited Patton for their improved 3 point shooting after Patton spent long hours with them both in the gym and watching film. Why not add him as an assistant coach?Several Bulls players, including Ayo, credited Patton for their improved 3 point shooting after Patton spent long hours with them both in the gym and watching film. Interesting idea to use him as a consultant, anyway.
That’s a very good schoolYaklich taking the HC job at Lincoln Way East …
Think he likes the idea of actually coaching and developing kids and not all this portal nonsense … Likes the idea of getting more time with his family as well …
That's 100% how it should be.Why not add him as an assistant coach?
You have 5 of them nowadays and don't need 5 recruiters. Get 2 lead recruiters, an Offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and a shooting specialist/player development specialist.
This staff messed up in the portal last year. Maybe more assistants isn't the solution. But you have to wonder what happened with the eval on, for example, Carey Booth. And Tre White didn't help much either, compared to what Ty Rogers would have brought to the court. Ben was not what the staff expected, though he did more to help the team than he sometimes gets credit for. (And yes: the summer Euro/Canada recruiting saved us. Which this staff accomplished, obviously.)You have 5 of them nowadays and don't need 5 recruiters. Say it ain’t so
I dont think Tre White was perfect by any means, but there’s some undervaluing of him and romanticizing of Rodgers taking place here. This staff messed up in the portal last year. I share your views on assistant specialization, though: offensive and defensive coordinator, and ideally a serious individual skills development guy to complement Fletch's physical-development focus.

I had hoped Tre White would stay another year, when he seemed to indicate an interest in doing so just after the season ended. But when he then left, I felt that his overall contribution to the program dropped. The reason I think that is the evidence (Evan Miya's analysis) that returning players that had played ~half of the minutes the previous season is, right now, an empirically important factor in winning.I dont think Tre White was perfect by any means, but there’s some undervaluing of him and romanticizing of Rodgers taking place here.
I have nothing against Rodgers at all either.
Hamer staying could be good. Just not as a defensive coordinator. But as an analytics guy, feeding numbers and trends and tendencies to the O- and D-coordinators -- that could be good. Also, Hamer could really show out as a stylist for Indy Illini Fan (who is Josh Whitman's right hand man, ahem). *DUCK!*In all seriousness … Hearing it’s likely Brad makes one addition to the staff … Hamer is staying …
Kwa will go back to what he was originally hired to do … Director of Recruiting & Scouting …
