Still feel we will go after a veteran SG type with positional size/athleticism to start. If we are a top 2 seed NCAA bid, seems that is what is missing.

Hi gents, I'm new on the board but a long time reader and avid illini fan. I keep seeing posters put up starting lineups and minute distributions and just had to comment.

Underwood has exactly one team that played beyond the first weekend in NCAA tourny. One very prominent player from that team is still on the team. He took a year off to work on his deficiencies and came back for this season. Do you really believe he will play less minutes this season than 2 years ago. Ty Rodgers is a Damn dog and winner. The only reason the illini falls short this season is if Ty plays the minutes I've seen posted here. I love the talent Underwood brings in but I question his coaching often. Hopefully he realizes how important Rodgers is to this team.

Right on! Rodgers is a winner because he plays with grit and toughness and leaves it out on the court! My brother is a season ticket holder and was elated when we got the word on Rodgers!

Copy cats

If I was the American AAU system I would be scared. Colleges are not going to continue taking on immature, spoiled, unskilled American players when they can sign older, much more skilled players from overseas who have literally been playing pro ball for years. The learning curve is quicker and (as of now) agents and handlers haven't ruined Europe. At least you are dealing with a player and an agent...instead of a player, their agent, their mom, their uncle, the Irvin family, Adidas, etc. The AAU league is truly the root of all basketball problems in the US. From college to the NBA. Illinois is a leading team in working around that problem. Maybe the Adriatic league in a few years will just be comprised of 18 year old Americans?

I agree, one more proven scorer would vault this team to FF contender from a top 15-20 team right now. We have proven players at every spot, the only unknown in my mind is Petrovic - I think he’ll be good but we just don’t know yet how he’ll perform and we’re expecting him to be our 30min a game PG, if he doesn’t work out then Kylan can take over PG but then there is a gaping whole on the wing next to Andrej

one more proven piece and we go from good to great

Most scouts think that Petrovics game will translate the easiest of the Euro's.
