IMO (not that anyone's asking) we should all wipe the slate clean with Ben and move on. Let's hope he finds his role over the summer and early fall and settles into it comfortably and productively, however marginal it will be. Every bucket, every D-stop matters. We need both from him when he's on the floor. He wants to remain an Illini having withstood a lot of heat this past season. Let's savor that, wish the young man well, hope that he progresses further, and root for him to do so.

So Ben averaged like 7.5ppg and like almost 4 rebounds per game on I think 34% from 3 point range, and (this is the really bad stat) only like 37% shooting overall.

Adam Miller (last year his best 3 point % year) - 9.8ppg, 2.3 rebounds per game, on 42% 3 point % and like 45% overall % shooting. For his career he is like a 33 or 34% 3 point shooter.

So Adam Miller gets 1.25 million? And BH gets like $300k - I am seeing it as BH is a good value? Am I missing something?

If I'm Ben, I don't make an "I'm Back" post simply to avoid all of the ridiculous negative comments I'd get on it.
Breaking news; if you have played in sports for more than a minute you have at very least heard negative comments and most likely have read negative comments. Not saying it's right, just part of the game(s)....... for just about ever.

You are spot on - Ben is a very good value in this environment. A guy who knows your system, has 5 years of experience, was a big ten starter, and can be a really good role player off the bench. You simply can't find that right now, even role players will want playing time and 500K+ and to get one that already knows your system is huge. With all the illness/injury last year, I think Brad is focusing on depth and we go two deep at every position this year without a lot of dropoff to the backup which is crazy - Andrej is the only guy we really don't have someone that can fill in for him (which I'm still hoping we add another proven scorer)

Our floor is really high this year, with a good balance of returnees and new comers with experience - we won't be counting on any freshman next year which is a stark contrast to 3 freshman playing significant roles last year and our best two players being freshman. Hopefully that translates to a deep run

Dude is an Illini and I think it’s way dumber to call yourself a fan and treat Ben the way many fans did.
This sentiment is impossible to square with 1. the routine personal smearing of virtually every player who has transferred away from the program and 2. the ever more baroque conspiracies of the Zach Hamer Tinfoil Hat Brigade.

Complaining that a struggling, possibly overmatched player is playing too much can get overheated, especially in the funhouse mirror that is a game thread, but this board routinely does far worse.

It will be interesting to watch minutes be distributed. Especially between Ben and Ty. Clearly Ben was in front of Ty last season and I wonder if Ty has improved much to surpass Ben over the last season at 4 spot. I doubt it and see Ty playing a back up role at the 3 with our current roster.

Put some respect on feta’s name (Birdman voice)

Me eyeing a chunk of delicious Bulgarian feta:

If you have feta ranked 8th, you're getting the wrong feta. You gotta get the stuff that comes in a big block in brine. It's gotta be sheep's milk. Bulgarian feta is your best bet. Might not be able to find at your normal grocery store, gotta go to a store that has a good selection of Middle Eastern foods.

True enough. But it is one thing to hear it from your coach, who sees you every day in practice, and actually knows what you are supposed to be doing on defense and offense in certain schemes. It's quite another in today's world of anonymous social media comments from people who may or may not have a clue.

For years I have heard fans yelling crap to players from stands, walking to buses, etc. Now there’s social media. Not promoting it….just saying.

Same. This is the reason I have requested a Thumbs Down button. So, I (and others) can simply state they disagree without drafting a response that might be misinterpreted and end up including "nasty" bickering that accomplishes nothing other than spoiling my positive groove (and buzz :)).

Ace Defender versus guy who can't guard at a Big Ten level

If that data is correct, I agree BH much better value. High NIL player getting injured would derail your season.. need balance

You do strike me as someone who thinks that frustration is a good reason for overreacting…

Dude is an Illini and I think it’s way dumber to call yourself a fan and treat Ben the way many fans did. I agree that he sucked and I don’t have a problem with people saying that but your reaction totally misses the point of what I was saying
Nobody should personally attack players, and I would go so far as to say @ them when they play poorly or to tell them they are bad is ridiculous and a line too far.

Having a discussion about roster usage should be more than fair game. I understand people (on both sides of this topic) struggle to tell the difference sometimes.

You're missing Adam Miller being considerably overpaid
