Why? I never specified this board as the “hate” I was referring to. I doubt Ben reads this board a whole lot. As if all Illinois fans whose voice could reach Ben exist on loyalty lol. I was referring to fans in general, and literally only speculating why I think he isn’t making a return post.

Your whole gripe is just the word I chose to use and you’re getting pressed for a dumb reason. So yes, you did miss the point and threw an internet fit while doing so.

I’m the blonde one
I haven't agreed with your argument but I laughed at the "I'm the blonde one" comment. That was pretty funny

A couple have given to their NIL collective....but normally no....the people donating make way more than college coaches do. A donation worth anything would be 1mil+....that would essentially be 1/5th of Brad's salary before taxes.
I have often wondered through the last two portal seasons how much I would have to earn (or have saved) to turn around and donate $1M for the chance that my team has a better single season. 50M? 100M? Probably more.

In a limited role, I'm sure Ben H will have success.

If we have to depend on him more than the guys we brought in....then we are screwed.

Oh no stop “hating” me.

No it doesn’t. You and others keep using the word hate where it doesn’t belong, and I’m referring mostly to the fans on this board.

If you are referring to fans actually being “hateful” elsewhere, then it’s probably smarter to take your “hate” comments to that medium.
amen brother dub..........................

I was UPSET with Ben's 3 pt shooting %.........
I was UPSET with Ben's lack of defensive prowess.............
I was UPSET with Ben's low rebounding totals..............
I was UPSET with Ben's amount of playing time.......

But I never HATED him for the above......and if calling out a player's lack of production compared to his amount of court tick is
HATING on them , well then there is a lot of thin skinned fans here that need to learn the difference between constructive criticism and true hate.......

It's a message board and members give their opinions.......sometimes opinions might differ from your opinion of a subject matter being discussed.........we all should stop labeling other's opinion unless that opinion truly goes over the top.........

I don't read every post here....I've got a life that I really really enjoy so when I visit here I would hope to enjoy my browsing time here , but it's getting to the point that the bickering back and forth is tiresome and not that interesting to me .....JMHO.....

The people who have that kind of money are making that kind of money just on simple interest

Seems odd to be upset with a player who gives 100% and clearly does so both in games and practices and just doesn't have the requisite talent to produce the kind of results you expect.

Seems far more logical to be upset with Brad or if you really want to be upset at college kids, maybe the ones that work out NIL deals and then bolt for a rival Big 10 school and then talk trash on the way out.

I'm back announcements are stupid. It shouldn't be a surprise that you play 2 years at the same school. It is only because of the pathetic state of college basketball that anyone thinks they're necessary.

And speaking of the state of college basketball, these are professional athletes. Professional athletes that are given free college degrees and now often graduate degrees because we need to hold up the illusion that this is somehow amateur athletics. These kids are now making more money than doctors, lawyers, and many CEOs. When you start getting compensated like that to play a game, especially when the fans are now even more directly than the pros paying your salary, you're just going to have to toughen up and get over people being big old meanies.

There are negative things said about everyone in high profile positions. Whether you are an actor, musician, athlete, politician, executive, etc. If you're in a spotlight, you are going to get a heck of a lot of benefits and also some negativity. If you can't handle that, there are tons of other things you can do. You're literally in college, get the degree to do one of those other things.

With Coward going to Duke where does that leave Sarr? Can't imagine he's looking to come off the bench for Duke. I'm assuming we don't get back involved, but might be interesting to see where some of these players go if they don't stay in the draft. There could be a team out there sitting on a bunch of money who will suddenly have a couple potential studs on their roster.

The answer is you have to make $1M to donate $1M or you’re not a true fan.

This is really one worst threads I've read in years. Ben didn't put himself in games when he played like crap. It took Underwood 2/3 of the season to realize he was a detriment to the team and removed him from the starting lineup. Underwood just refuses to make adjustments to lineups and game plans even when it's obvious they don't work. That is not on the players. Somehow he puts teams with tremendous potential on the floor each season but they underperform. In Ben's defense, if a coach puts a player in the game is he supposed to sub himself out because he is underperforming? Ben never quit he tried. I wanted him benched but I never coached beyond HS. Underwood needs to get some coaches who can help with player evaluations and game adjustments. It's why coaches have left like Frazier and Anderson and others. Not enough input in the players they recruited. And players leave like Morez because Ben plays 30 minutes while he watches from the bench. He does that to all his young stars and why they leave. Do you honestly believe the 2 freshmen this year will be with the team next season after getting 3-5 minutes of playing time.

I don’t know if it is hate or not but it is repulsive and childish. So stop.

High profile people often deserve criticism because they do crappy things to people from those high places.

We should perhaps reserve the more intense criticism for the more important bad actors, rather than direct it to a college kid who just wants to play basketball.

My issue isnt with folks being critical of Ben's 34% 3pt shooting because that what he was brought here to do. If he had shot it 5% better than what he did then he wouldve met my expectations. I didn't expected him to have to guard opposing 5s when Tomi was out or defend bigger players.

What I think is unfair is when others shoot poorly or at a lower percentage than Ben that were also brought in to shoot 3s well and no one says anything. Ben shot below expected but who didn't? The team as a whole shot poorly. Will 32%, KJ 32%, Kylan 25%, DGL 26% and Tomi was ok at 36%. The others that struggled few complained about like they did about Ben who was still second best on the team while being asked to usually guard guys bigger than him.
