How do we pay him? Who gets put on the bench and loses minutes and who immediately transfers?

He's staying in the draft, so it really moot, but Brad did the right thing by not waiting to see what happens.

Obviously that number of early entrants is more about guys opting out of college with an overseas career in my mind. Hoping for G-League. Now NIL really gives them a reason to stick around. I imagine the NIL payday can easily surpass mid level foreign salaries.

In today's NBA id say Riley. I watched about 10 minutes the other day and I just can't get into it with the rule changes. They hardly can touch each other on the perimeter. Playing on the outside like he does being slim isn't the factor it once was. It may have an effect when he drives but even so its not close to as physical insude like ut used to be. Even an All Star game from the 80s and 90s was more physical than the game played today. I hope they all make a lot if money but unless the games rules go more to what they were in the 80s and 90s, they won't get any of my money. I'll watch college games with some physicality to them and former illini from time to time on TBS.

A couple of these playoff series' have been pretty physical. It's not a rugby match like the 90's, but they are letting them play quite a bit more during the post-season than they do during the regular 82.

I agree with your argument in general. The positions are different but the mock draft spots are very similar. Like I said in another post, this is really where things get tough. If Will shoots up after the combine (or tank) or is "guaranteed" a 1st round spot, the decision making becomes easier. If he stays in the current range and is only mildly promised to be picked in the 1st round, what do you do? I can see lots of players still going for it like Keels because it feels within the reach and there are lots of good 2nd round stories, too.

I watched the guys on the perimeter and they can not really use their hands at all on defense. When I see pictures of Magic and Jordan posted or around they would be called for a foul called today 90% of the time today when I look at those photos. The "freedom of movement" and powder puff not being able to touch the guy your guarding has ruined today's NBA for me. I may watch for free to see our former Illini but I'm not buying tickets for the NBA games. College is a much more competitive physical game I will pay to watch.

NIL is surpassing top level foreign salaries. 3.7M is the top salary in Euroleague (top paying foreign league). 2.3M is a top 10 salary.

Gonna be some realignment. Counting matters: there are 30 first-rounders, with guaranteed contracts. A handful more of second-rounders, with good contracts available. For all of planet Earth.

And it’s probably a lot more fun to stay in school, play in front of rabid fans, and have a shot at the tournament.

The NBA is pretty much unwatchable. You want physicality? Turn on the NHL playoffs. Went to game 6 in St. Louis last night and it was unbelievably physical. I refuse to watch the NBA and it’s been that way for years at this point.
