Does it count as a turnover for Ben if KJ passes the ball and Ben misses the pass? That's what I noticed was happening a lot. It really bit us when Tomi was out because he's far better at expecting passes and knowing his spot.
Ben deserved some criticism at times but it is much overblown. Others struggled even more than Ben in areas but others were often not talked about and Ben blamed. I think many in here would complain about which side of the bed he gets up on in the morning if they could see it. KJ made risky, poor passes often just like he did at the end of the Tennessee game that were on KJ and no one else.

What concerns me with Will is that this is a “cover your ears and go ‘la la la la la… I can’t hear you’” decision. It’s as if he doesn’t want to risk hearing that he might not be league-ready.
He is going to get drafted, and he is likely going to play more in the G-League than in the NBA next year, regardless. I guess if he is willing to roll the dice on the financial implications, it is what it is...
I'd guess it shows the chances of him returning to college are just about zero, not that they were ever high.

There's no "if" on rolling the dice. Plenty of uncertainty either way as far as we, as casual observers, see.

What concerns me is "fans", who have no clue about the situation, insulting one of our players by suggesting his (and his advisors') thought process is based on willful ignorance.

The previous year with the #2 offense in the nation doesn’t count as experience?

What? He was hired with no previous coaching experience.
But don’t let that stop you from creating your own new argument.

I mean Phil Jackson was hired as an assistant by the Nets with zero coaching experience

Everyone has to start somewhere, and somewhere doesn't always have to be pee-wee ball

Although I understand he didn't really digest your post properly, everyone that matters (thankfully) sees this as a complete non-issue

Bonus dad-joke: Every horse running in the Kentucky Derby this year was a descendant of Secretariat, which is actually a clear case of neighpotism

It's good to see, in these conflicting love/hate Ben threads, that you can maintain your equine-imity and make a good dad pun.

Your original post was in regards to his coaching and the utilization of KJ, who apparently TU mismanaged into 3rd-team All-Big Ten as a true freshman. At the time KJ was playing, TU did in fact have coaching experience. And assuming he is indeed architect of our offense, then is experience was in crafting a top-3 offense on an Elite Eight team.

Y'all need to quit Foaling around and start worrying about how we are going to Herd these players into a Team. Hoof to Tail I think we have a pretty darned good Stable of Stallions that can run circles around the League.

Lol….And apparently it was a very unobviously tongue in cheek jab meant to stir that pot.

I’m a huge fan of the Phil Jackson comp tho.

Good grief😂

Guess we are going to need something similar to /S for tongue in cheek and maybe one for just stiring the pot.

With all due respect, KJ was a turnover machine, many of which were of the live ball variety which led to layups, many of which stopped our scoring runs, many of which extended other teams scoring runs.....most of which were of the completely mindless variety(dribbling it off his foot, being loose with the ball and it getting swiped, getting stuck in the lane after picking up his dribble and getting stuck in the air directly under the hoop with nowhere to go with the ball.

The difference between KJ being drafted 5th versus more than likely outside of the top 10 was his decision making. Can't get around that. The TO ratio is what it is.

What he has going for him is good size, a lot of tools to work with, in an NBA that really stresses development and age versus immediate production. 10 years ago, he's back in school for his sophomore year and TJ would have been a lottery pick.

Now, I'm not sure why scouts think we used him the wrong way? He had the keys to the car from day one with no restrictions. If they're pinning his erratic play on the staff, that's fine, but the same scout should be sharing how they believe he should have been used.
