There is an eval period this weekend. We’re pretty set for next season already - can’t imagine there’s a huge benefit in that at this point.
Wouldn’t we want someone in place before that occurs? What would be the benefit of waiting, unless we just don’t have anyone far enough along in the process? Sorry, I’m just not sure I follow what you’re laying down… please help an idiot today. There is an eval period this weekend.
That aged well

Well now we know it's a "he."No NCAA rules in place for said coach until he’s hired
We took the same approach when TA was hired, IIRC.No NCAA rules in place for said coach until he’s hired

Okay so no personal contact during evaluation period. So perhaps this future coach has a connection with Alex Constanza or another ‘26 recruit I take it. But also must not be a college coach elsewhere or they’d be subject to the rules for that school anyway. No NCAA rules in place for said coach until he’s hired
I found a video of Hamer and Brad going to the snack bar shortly after this picture was taken.
And that is why Brad is getting paid the big bucks. I like that he is willing to play up to the gray lines to our collective advantage. No NCAA rules in place for said coach until he’s hired
I'm not sure how much the extension matters in terms of that. The Illini press release said he was extended three years, through 2031, but what really happened was he already had those first two extensions and just got extended one more year, with the continued opportunity for more extensions as long as he's performing. And that is why Brad is getting paid the big bucks. I like that he is willing to play up to the gray lines to our collective advantage.
Hopefully with this new contract extension we will not have to hear about his agent talking to other programs. We have the guy that is committed for the long term of the program, and that is ideal with all the new developments surrounding the NCAA. We are all itching for a run at the Final 4, and Brad is the best chance we have at it (I say that even as a person who has been fairly critical of some decisions made over the past season). Brad has proven able to recruit at levels we have not seen for a long time, and it is only a matter of time before it all comes together in late March, IMO. As long as Brad shows the fire that we saw the last couple weeks of last season, we will be good.
If his agent was indeed talking to other teams in an effort to get him more money… it worked. Why would he stop? And that is why Brad is getting paid the big bucks. I like that he is willing to play up to the gray lines to our collective advantage.
