# 1.............Where is everyone ?

Overall I'd say we'd covered most bases... a little worried about safety...

I feel that da Bears traded a ten dollar bill for a five and six ones after the second round, and then traded a buck for two fifty cent pieces.

Ended up with one more pick but lost out on significantly higher athletes at RB, OL, and DL. A lot of one buck gambles and no potential starters....

After second pick, all the rest were reaches. Even those first two picks were redundant with talent on board.

Quantity over (marginal) quality does not win in the NFL..

Hope they can make chicken salad out of chicken...feathers.

Very disappointed in the aggregate draft class. They got too cute with the trade backs.

While I get the concern about the trade backs, with the talent issues they have, it's not the worst thing to pick up additional picks this year and next year.

Burden probably goes in the 1st round if Miznoz had anything resembling decent QB play so he's an absolute steal in the 2nd round. Trapilo could potentially start at left tackle if Braxton Jones isn't healthy at the start of the season. Monangai won't be Jeanty in terms of production but he had some of the best ball security among RBs in this year's class. It sounds like Newman will probably get moved inside as a backup center behind Dalman.

That being said, them not getting an edge rusher is probably the biggest issue they still have. Shemar Turner is good but it seems like he'll probably be an interior d-lineman and we already have Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter there.

I think this class stinks. Loveland might end up being better than Warren but I don't think so. Clearly Ben Johnson loved him. Getting Burden in the 2nd round was a steal. Don't understand drafting Trapilo where they did. He is a right tackle and you are set there. Hyppolite a huge reach. Should have been a 7th round pick of a UFA.

Maybe they strike gold with Shemar Turner.

Disappointing draft.

I would have been happier with OL (ready to be starters) depth picks, esp since 2 of the 3 new stars are coming off serious injury.
I hope the new OL guys stay healthy and give Caleb the extra time he needs, and if they do, Ben's picks will make Caleb a gunslinger like maybe we have never had before. Here's to hoping that comes true!

Then an Edge and/or DT to improve pressure on opposing QB's, and enable more picks by our secondary.

Then everything else is a bonus.

I read after the draft that Loveland is coming off shoulder surgery from a Sept 2024 injury. Red flag no matter what the doc says.

Did you watch the Illinois - Michigan game? He was amazing! Without him Illinois would have been playing the second team the second half.

Yeah, I know.
But it's kinda like if you're on the Titanic, and you have a choice of bringing on board some fine 100 yr old MacAllen or an instant hull fixit kit,
you have to temper what you want for what you need.
OTOH, if the new OL guys are fully healthy, and stay that way, you just hit the jackpot.

With the schedule release on Wednesday, stuff is going to be announced or leak between now and then. Dates of two of the Bears games have been confirmed:

-November 28th: Bears at Eagles; Black Friday on Prime Video
-December 20th: Packers at Bears; Part of NFL doubleheader on FOX

There are four potential dogs in there (Raiders, Saints, Giants, and Browns) but otherwise a fairly tough schedule imo.

Schedule being tough isn't surprising. They were in the best division in football last year and the NFC North teams got drawn against the AFC North and NFC East teams for interdivisonal opponents.

I'm hoping to get to a game this year. May either go to the game against the Cowboys at home or travel to the game in Cincy.

I'm not sure why but I haven't adopted Caleb like I did easily for Mitch and Justin...

Bears have extended Poles contract through the 2029 season. This lines his contract up with Ben Johnson's contract.
Which also aligns very closely with Williams.

If the GM, HC and QB aren't aligned, you'll never have continuity. This was the downfall of Trubisky and especially Fields. Those guys were learning new playbooks every year.

I'm 50/50 on Poles, but it was the right thing to do.

For those in the Springfield/Decatur/Champaign area, tomorrow's preseason opener will air on CW 23. While the game would normally air on FOX 55, FOX national is showing LIV Golf so the Bears game gets bumped over as a result.

thank God there are only 3 bogus games now

hopefully , the season goes to 18 games and they drop another pre-season game off the schedule . two of them is plenty .
