With what I read, it looks as if they tapered down his leg kick/hang mechanics down in AAA. It's much more abbreviated now.
At least now we know what we have in the alternative and the bar is set really low for him to improve the offense.

Nicky seems like a good team guy (and from Chicago) but his bat is not good.
Berti seems like he can't lay off or catch up with a high fastball.
Brujan's highlight this year is a slide at home and a windblown ground rule double.
Perhaps for this season as an every day player. Shaw will get more looks at the majors, regardless. He is being rushed out of necessity. I don't think it will be held against him long term if he struggles again.I see this as "do or die" for Shaw. If he fails again, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a move for Ryan McMahon.
I hope not. I wouldn't take McMahon for free with his contract.I see this as "do or die" for Shaw. If he fails again, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a move for Ryan McMahon.

If it was only for this year, then it would make some sense as Shaw insurance. But with 2 more years at $16MM, no way. He has to be starting for that money, and I don't want him as the starting 3B.He’s a plus, plus defensive 3B whose offensive production is underwhelming considering where he plays.
His contract isn’t THAT bad - $16 million in each of 26 and 27 - and the Cubs could likely get the Rockies to eat a chunk of it by throwing in a better prospect. Otherwise, the Rockies are only going to get a Rule 5 candidate back from wherever he goes.
Maybe for 3rd base it's do or die but I don't see them giving up on Shaw if he struggles again.I see this as "do or die" for Shaw. If he fails again, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs make a move for Ryan McMahon.

Agreed. McMahon's splits away from Colorado are shocking and abysmal.I hope not. I wouldn't take McMahon for free with his contract.
Agreed. At least he can field a ground ball. He can hit .175 just as well as the other guys they've played the position have. Have to be patient with him. Can't bring him up, just to send him back down again. They'll ruin him.Maybe for 3rd base it's do or die but I don't see them giving up on Shaw if he struggles again.
And in a few weeks, they'll be bringing back Eury Perez, who looked like one of the best pitching talents in baseball before his Tommy John surgery 2 years ago. And they brought back Ryan Weathers who shoved against the Cubs last week (rematch soon). Marlins have some solid talent in their rotation. The guys on the tv broadcast are absolutely right. No clue how this Cabrera kid for the Fish has 5.50 ERA. He’s throwing absolute filth.
Then Brown wets the bed in the 5th. He needs to be in the bullpen. If you can only rely on two pitches, life as a starter isn't long.Wow. Cabrera gets Ballesteros on a disgusting 94 mph “change up” with 15 inches of arm-side break. Then immediately follows it up with a meatball straight down the middle that Amaya deposits over the left field wall.
So, I guess I answered my question from the previous post.
1)Instead of blowing a 101 MPH fastball letter high, he hung a slider. Not sure if Amaya called for it or if the game is called from the dugout? Terrible decision either way.Hmmm…what happened to Palencia? Got the first two guys then fell apart?
