aluminum foil on the rabbit ears?!I, too, grew up watching WCIA channel 3—it was fuzzy and on a black-and-white TV. I also watched the Cubs on WGN and listened to the Cubs on the radio while playing wiffle ball.
Remember the yellow cable boxes with the slide controlaluminum foil on the rabbit ears?!
Kurt Steger played quarterback under Bob Blackman and played baseball pitcher 1B.![]()
Remember Him: Two-Sport Athlete Kyle Hudson
Hudson made his debut as an Illini playing football, but shined on the diamond.www.thechampaignroom.com
I’d like to see Rankin be our next dual sport athlete
Right there with both of you guys!aluminum foil on the rabbit ears?!
2 somewhat recent guys I really wish we would've signed from Freeport/Rockford area (probably been discussed before) Willie Veasley (Freeport and Butler's F4 team) and Fred Van Vleet (Rockford Auburn and Wichita St. almost undefeated team). Of course Bruce and Groce didnt think so.As a kid in Freeport my dad would tell me all about Preston Pearson, and his older brother Rufus. Rufus was supposedly the better athlete but had some personal challenges along the way.
Not a lot of big time athletes are for former Pretzels (Freeport's mascot) so they were revered. Along with Jamal Meeks who was a few years ahead of me and went to play for Bob Knight at Indiana.
Granted this was mid-late 90's, I found stripped speaker wire (wrapped around the ears) running to a window was much more effective. Similar effect, just with a later generationaluminum foil on the rabbit ears?!
If he hangs onto the ball better I might not careI agree, I'm excited to see how Petrovic does next year, but I also think we should temper expectations. He's not KJ and won't be able to score the way KJ did with his ability to finish at the rim and the step back threes. I think Petrovic will be more under control, turn the ball over less and hopefully adjust to the things he can't do in college better/quicker than KJ did. Petrovic relies on his quickness a lot and blowing by guys, he won't be able to do that in college nearly as much. He finishes at the rim a lot now, but will likely struggle with that in college against quicker big men/shot blockers. He won't be able to get his shot off as easily. But if he settles into his role as playmaker, distributor and hitting the open catch and shoot three, that will be a really effective PG for us. He should be here multiple years and he's not on NBA radars so I think that will make the transition easier - he has nothing to "prove" or show folks to get to the next level.

Dave Shaul’s wife was my babysitter when I was 4-5. Bounces Per Minute. If you truly want to be athletic...according to Loyalty, you need at least 150 BPMWhat is BPM? Thanks
Dave Shaul's daughter was occasionally my babysitter, but I don't recall anything mystifying about the experience.Dave Shaul’s wife was my babysitter when I was 4-5. I could never figure out how he was in that box and then came walking thru the door later.
haha, for realsSince we drifted away from basketball in the multi-sport area… some guy named Bo seemed to do ok playing a couple different sports back in the late 80’s to early 90’s.
