I think Jake is a better shooter than he showed last season, more of a spot up shooter. I expect him to get more minutes and should be a little more consistent hopefully.
He is not super athletic but overall I don't think he was worse than Goode. In fact, I think he is slightly better than Goode. I think he is on the Goode trajectory.Jake looked in questionable shape last year. up and down in weight, at times not athletic at all.
i wonder if the illnesses that went thru the team effected him more than others.
I would guess he's 9th in mpg. But obviously depends on the health of the 8 guys in front of him.I may be alone on this, but I expect Jake to be a major contributor. He's got a year of experience at the high major level now. It will all depend on his confidence, but I'd guess he's there now.
I'm not saying he's bad but I just don't really see a role with Humrichous here. There is a just a lot of redundancy in their games and think Humrichous is better and older.I think Jake is a better shooter than he showed last season, more of a spot up shooter. I expect him to get more minutes and should be a little more consistent hopefully.
I get the Goode comparison but Goode looked taller and longer imo. Also, something about Davis's shooting form never makes me confident when he puts up a shot.He is not super athletic but overall I don't think he was worse than Goode. Div. 1 is peppered with players like Jake with an elite skill, motivation, and mental acuity to figure out how to succeed in helping his team, and how to hide his deficiencies. He made some huge and timely contributions on occasion last season. Our fondest hope should be that he does the same in big multiples and a consistency to be an Illini and teammate favorite this year. Sure wish he had more foot speed but he can make up for much of that shortcoming with some "want to".I may be alone on this, but I expect Jake to be a major contributor. He's got a year of experience at the high major level now. It will all depend on his confidence, but I'd guess he's there now.
Interesting. I feel the exact opposite. I think his form is beautiful and compact with a quick release and consistent whether he’s shooting spot-up or off movement. I fully expect him to have at least one year while here where he shoots 40+% from 3. He was already 37.5% from 3 in conference this year. Also, something about Davis's shooting form never makes me confident when he puts up a shot.
also, there were so many times he was in the right place at the right time for O rebounds and quick put backs. he showed great IQ and engagement, thats a player i want on my team 100% of the timeInteresting. I don't either. I think he is 3rd most likely to start.I don't agree with their assessment on who will start.

Who Starts for Illinois: Ben Humrichous, Zvonimir Ivisic or David Mirkovic?
The Illini have almost their entire starting lineup nailed down, but one spot remains up for grabs: Who starts at power forward?www.si.com
I hope he brings in more ball pressure. We allowed teams top set up early instead of making them work. We will be deeper in the back court this year. Having two solid guards in Petro and Bam will make ion easier to match up earlier.Hopefully the longer he works with the team defense Crocker gets more and more responsible regarding defense and eventually Hamer gets all his responsibility with the defense taken away.
I think Ty is just as likely as the three guys mentioned to start.I don't either. I think he is 3rd most likely to start.
Might be Ty depending on matchupsI don't either. I think he is 3rd most likely to start.
Ok, now let’s think about this a minute. I was like Indy, why is BH starting last year, but we have no idea what he has been doing in the offseason. For one, it’s way too early to think about this. The pros are is that this will be his second year within the system and he is 23 years old. What about this as a lineup. Petrovic, Bam, AS, Tomi and Ben. Looking at this, the spacing would be insane. AS would have all kinds of cutting lanes and our guards would have more space to drive and dish. If BH improves his shooting just 4% from 3 up to 38% he can be a great outlet to hit that open three after we penetrate the lane. Ball movement will be our bigggest asset. Getting people open with our spacing will open our offense up. We can rotate Ty, Big Z, Lee, Jake and Mirk in and wear teams down. Brad really needs to utilize our depth this year. We will. Be able to create difficult matchups with our versatility and depth. But it’s only May, anything can happen by November.I don't either. I think he is 3rd most likely to start.
Every year we think we have insane depth. Every year the actual playable roster shrinks to about 8, maybe 9 by the end of the year.Ok, now let’s think about this a minute. Yup! Every year wo fail, we say this.Every year we think we have insane depth. Every year the actual playable roster shrinks to about 8, maybe 9 by the end of the year.
I think he’s more likely at least 4th option. Ty Rodgers would be in the mix and should be well ahead of HumI don't either. I think he is 3rd most likely to start.
There are only so many minutes to go around so yeah you're going to likely have 8 core guys that gets maybe even cut down to 7 for big games and then maybe a 9th and 10th guy that gets spot minutes here and there.Every year we think we have insane depth. Every year the actual playable roster shrinks to about 8, maybe 9 by the end of the year.
Why would Ty be well ahead of a BH? Ty has never played a game with anyone on this roster and he's not a shooter...which we know BU prioritizes outside shooting.I think he’s more likely at least 4th option. Ty Rodgers would be in the mix and should be well ahead of Hum
Neither can shoot but at least ty can defend and rebound. Why would Ty be well ahead of a BH? Ty has never played a game with anyone on this roster and he's not a shooter...which we know BU prioritizes outside shooting.
I think anyone who is expecting BH to be last guy off the bench is going to be disappointed. At least, to start the year.
