That is sure to upset a few posters here that are insistent that Brad can't coach the big game.
I think what often gets overlooked is that most of us who doubt BU can win the big one still want him to prove us wrong, he just hasn’t done it yet. That said, JW seems to have a clear plan, and I don’t think many people here are questioning him. We’ve got some studs coming in, so there shouldn’t be any excuses this year.

Michigan may actually beat UI this year. We shall see.

Underwood

So, this is probably one od hottest places to be in Europe if you’re either coach or executive because it provides amazing opportunity for networking and laying ground & making deals for future. Few years ago, Calipari went there and few weeks after that Big Z commited to Kentucky.

For context, this is basketball clinic organized by association of serbian coaches which carry the name of legendary coach Ivkovic. A guy which used to represent Ivkovic is same guy who represents all of the international guys you got @ Illinois. Some renowned people who were teaching there include
Don Nelson, Greg Popovich, Larry Brown, Mike D’antoni, Bernie Bickerstaff, Stan van Gundy , Dell Haris, Roy Williams, John Calipari, Oliver Purnell etc. and plenty more high level euro coaches.

This summer coach Brad Underwood will be teaching at this clinic, so its safe to say that international recruitment wont go away anytime soon. You guys might even be in for some surprise signing during the summer, considering how these guys move.

Feel bad for Morez. Grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Big life lesson.

I suspect he will be transferring again after this season. Once you bail on your commitment it gets easier and easier to do it again. See Tre White path.

He would be better off working on his ball handling so he can drive to the hoop and learning the Kofi drop step so he can post up.
He’s making very good money. No need to feel sorry for him.

He was 0 for 2 his entire 6 year collegiate career so I think your memory might be playing tricks on you.

He did take both those threes in his first year at Illinois though.
His memory is spot on, except he did it in an early exhibition game.

Wow good to know. Thank you for providing this insight for us.

No, but I do find the karma pretty rich.
What karma? If he had stuck around and seen his minutes taken by Z would that have been karma?

We'll see how the season plays out. The only karma would be if his new coach won't let him take 10 foot jump shots.

By your definition of karma we have a bunch of guys who have suffered it, including arguably Morez himself who lost minutes this year to a less than efficient BH.

It's human nature(and this boards DNA) to overrate what we have coming in the door by automatically assuming they're better than what we have.

Ben's played in the system, he knows the system well, BU is comfortable with him, he's got experience, he knows the expectations......

At least to start the year, I think SI is right.
I’m confused by your point, as the debate you quoted was concerning PT for Ben vs. Ty … Ty is less of a “new” player than Ben, so it’s not a case of overrating the new, shiny player.

If he was that set on transferring, he'd do it right now (if you were formally in the portal, you can re-enter regardless of that initial deadline).

I understand chasing that bag, but I don't feel bad when it bites someone. He's gonna learn a hard lesson in how those promises made during recruiting courtship go both ways, something I find fitting after the signed his 25-26 NIL with us then bailed for greener pastures

Why would Ty be well ahead of a BH? Ty has never played a game with anyone on this roster and he's not a shooter...which we know BU prioritizes outside shooting.

I think anyone who is expecting BH to be last guy off the bench is going to be disappointed. At least, to start the year.
Hummer seems like a nice kid but he was truly dreadful last season. Either he improves a lot or Ty plays a lot more than him I don't think it's that complicated.

i'm not insistent, just not convinced, at least in the ncaa tournament. he beat higher seeded iowa state to get to the elite 8, and also took that team up the ladder to cut down the nets in minneapolis in the b10 tournament. i just wish he'd have more success in the ncaa tournament specifically. hopefully he does this year, and it's hard to argue against his results in big 10 play.

Have you met my friend Brad Underwood?

BH is old, experienced, has length, and was one of our best shooters last year. He's not going to be relegated to a Jake Davis role.

And Ty, even as a starter in 2023, only played 23 minutes a game. I bet they'll be within 5 mpg of each other.

Guess depends on you sacrifice offense or defense. Based on Brad's history, he prioritizes offense.
