So I found some further clarification on this. The reason they were able to advance is because Arenado threw the ball from the stands (which I can get him doing based on instinct). Had he thrown it to one of his teammates after he came out of the stands, the Arizona runners don't advance. He was interviewed postgame and said he was fine though he got treatment for about 30 minutes after the game.
The guys on the radio side explained the ruling.

Glad to hear he didn't seriously injure himself. A great play no matter how you slice it.

Couple of things you don't see often...

Back to back triples

Pitch clock violation before you make your first ever major league pitch
Kind of a strange game overall. This team continues to fight back.

On June 1st, will the Cardinals be over .500?
Currently 17-19

2 more vs. Pirates
3 @ Nationals
3 @ Phillies
3 @ Royals
3 vs. Tigers
3 vs. D-backs
3 @ Orioles
3 @ Rangers

I predict 11-12 since most are on the road, but curious what others think.
I thought we would be 28-31 (3 under .500) after this weekend. We have a chance to be 35-24 (11 over .500), but at worst will be 32-27 (5 over .500).

I was clearly wrong about this team, but I am glad to be wrong. What a fun team to watch! Let's keep it going!

I was just thinking about your post yesterday. I'm very happy to be wrong as well. I was mainly worried about how they were on the road and they have seemed to figured that part out. They all seem really together and playing for each other.

I jump in and admit at this point in the season I am wrong. I thought they were a 81-83 win team. If they keep it up 87-88 wins is not out of the question.

The wheels really fell off today. Not crisp defensively and the Rangers kept putting on pressure until the boys cracked.

Cubs v cards shoukd be a great series.
Always is, regardless of records. I'm a die hard Cubs fan. I've had a 13yr standing bet with the CEO of my company, $1/per game to the winner. At the end of the year, neither of us has ever had enough winnings to buy the other lunch (especially with today's prices).

One of the best rivalries in all sports.

Marmol left Pallante in way too long trying to get him through the top of the 5th for the win and now a Cardinals 5 run lead is a 1 run deficit......

Can't be giving up big leads like that especially after the unlovables won earlier today.......poor managing if you ask me.......JMHO.......

Very disappointing loss.....can't be giving up 5 run leads like that.........Pallante was gassed when he gave up that lead off home run but Oli has a habit of giving too much rope to starters in the fifth innings trying to get them wins........

Cardinals now 5 GB....................
