That's a fake account, not gonna happen
The fact that people would even have an idea that Pitino to the Knicks from a fake account says an awful lot about James Dolan as an owner.

He's absolutely one where I'd see something saying this and think, "Yeah, I could actually see him doing that" even though it goes against all reason.

I mean….it doesn’t go against ALL reason

Does it go against reason? Pitino literally wrote a book called "success is a choice". He certainly believes in himself. This could the last itch to finally win at the top level. Being 72 doesn't help but never underestimate these dudes at the top... They don't always think rationally. Part of why they do what they do

Sports Illustrated is linking Pitino to the Knicks now.

People go to Sports Illustrated to read the articles? I thought they were now 100% AI clickbait, just marking time, and maybe scraping a few ad dollars, between bikini photo shoots.

I'm not sure being an NBA coach is as big a draw as it used to be for college coaches, unless they're dodging an NCAA penalty. If you're in a lot of these spots where you're set for life, why trade that for a place that'll fire you for making the Conference Finals?

Unless Pitino or Hurley is tired of the rat race called NIL/transfer portal, I could see either go since Pitino is a New Yorker and Hurley is a Jersey boy. If the Knicks were smart, lol, they would go hard for Hurley as Pitino has already been the coach of the Knicks and it would be silly to hire a 72 year old.

In this NIL/pay to play era, I think being a NBA coach is more appealing. You don’t have the uncertainty of college roster turnover. You don’t have to deal with parents and handlers (at least to a degree). You don’t have to play GM and coach.

I’m sure not everyone agrees, but give me a good owner and a GM I align with and I think I’d rather coach in the NBA.

I can’t see Hurley’s coaching style working with pros
I agree with you but I also just got off a rant on how Tibbs getting fired but the Knicks was a joke in my opinion. He's an intense dude but usually has a shelf life but if he can make it work, who knows. Assuming he doesn't have as big an ego as Hurley

Still the Knicks were stupid to fire him

I actually think the Knicks held on to Thibbs for too long (I thought he would get fired two years ago). He can certainly rack up wins, but at the end of the day, he is not the coach that will take you to the Finals or win a championship. The Game 1 collapse made it certain (IMO) that Thibbs would be gone if they did not make the Finals, and that ended up happening. The question is if the Knicks can actually make the correct next hire, and that is very uncertain.

Before tibbs got to the Knicks... They had a 0.318 win% and the year before that 0.207% win rate... Bottom of the barrel. Since he got there he has had only 1 sub 0.500 record (0.451) and the last three years have increased each year from 0.573 to 0.610 to 0.622 with a conference semi finals and conference finals appearance. Also had a pretty big trade last year to transform the team and he improved.

That's pretty hard for me to see the profile of a coach who should get fired. It's not like he's flaming out in the first or second round of the playoffs.
