Have we confirmed our overseas additions are cleared/going to be cleared soon?

Feel like it’s been both eerily silent and ignored on the boards. Maybe I’m just being too pessimistic and it’s a non factor.

Coaches will still abuse this to get free timeouts. Maybe the final 2 minutes will take 15 minutes instead of 20?

Not sure, but I suppose it will lead to even more inefficient, pointless video reviews by the three blind mice - I mean - the officials.

You are allowed 1 challenge per game. If you are right, you retain the right to make another challenge (max 2 total challenges per team per game). You must have a timeout available to make a challenge. You do not lose the timeout if your are wrong. So yes, in theory each coach could once per game get a "free" timeout by taking it before they spent their last timeout that half.

The other major rule change made it even easier to draw a foul. Where is TSJ? “An offensive player who ends his dribble going toward the basket and absorbs contact from the defense will be permitted to pivot or complete the step the player is on and finish the field goal attempt.”

They considered quarters vs. halves and decided against. The primary stumbling block appeared to be determining how to reschedule in enough commercial breaks without breaking the game flow too much. (The very 4 minutes of play rule is already pretty invasive.)

One challenge per game, a second if you win the first, must have a time out to be able to use a challenge.
The whole "at any point in the game" threw me off. I was imagining coaches challenging an obviously made 3/easy dunk for a free timeout. Limiting it to 1 (2 with a successful one) is acceptable...

I never understood the you only get 1 more if you are correct. GTFO if the ref makes a mistake, I should serve no penalty at all.

Instead of the lose it timeout in the first half, let that be a review that you can take forward. You will save time in the first half and may actually use it when it's most important in the second half

I agree that for the best game it would be "If you are right, you may challenge again." I'd consider making it cost a timeout if used in the last minute and you are wrong. Unfortunately they seem more concerned about ensuring the games finish in a consistent time under 2 hours to make the TV rights owners happy.

Announcers in 2024-25: “The important thing is that they get the call right.”

Announcers in 2025-26: “The important thing is they move the game along quickly.”

I'm mostly ok with less out of bounds reviews because the way that they are called on the court vs replays are so wildly different. For 38 minutes the spirit of the call is that if a defender pokes or slaps the ball out of someone's hand its off the defender unless is clearly hits another body part of the offensive player. With the reviews they take a microscopic look to see if it brushed a finger tip on the offensive player on the way out.

The second part is being over looked at the moment but this is the start of moving to the NBA continuation rule.

Because Yaxel left the draft and a lot of people are clowning on Morez because he got the money but won't get the minutes/role he wanted. This isn't just about us, this is him doing some sick audition on behalf of his son to Michigan's coaching staff to not give him the same (potentially worse) role.

Note- if you look at the timeline, Morez commits, then Yaxel commits, then Aday Mara commits. That's not great news for Morez, because it tells me May and staff told the latter two players "Don't worry about Morez, he's depth." If we go through the exercise of assigning minutes, I don't see Morez exceeding 25 MPG (barring injuries).
Thanks!

The writing is on the wall. Morez is backing up these guys. So his role will be the same and perhaps worse. Like I said, I understand him transferring but transferring to Michigan?

Usually, I'm the annoying homer that jumps in to these types of convos and talks up our players while downplaying those that chose to portal.

But this is one of those rare instances where I'm going to take the opposite stance. I feel Morez will likely start at the 5 for them. Also, if there is a universe in which they can make Yaxel work at the 3 spot, a lineup of Cadeau/Gayle/Yaxel/Morez/Mara with Burnett, Cason, Tschetter off of the bench is absolutely terrifying.

Our big question mark right now is the 4 spot, and Morez would have slotted in perfectly aside Tomi.

if they can do ANYTHING to stop the missing of the the beginning of games b/c of first game over runs then I'm all for it ........

And we're always the late game on the weekdays, which really pushes my bedtime.
