which school of his three other visits (Ole Miss, Bama, OSU) is the biggest threat in the Sutter recruitment at the moment?

he's visiting Alabama this weekend.
weren't we thinking Ohio State?
College Football GIF by Ohio State Athletics
we've heard OSU, we've heard Bama, we've (presumably) heard Illinois. Pretty chancy recruitment (as it should be for one of the nations top prospects).

Sorry in advance, I don't following recruiting often. How many more commits will the staff take? Am I correct that the remaining commits will be some combination of the following players (assuming all goes well)? Is there anyone else that the staff is looking at?
Jacob Eberhart
JC Anderson
Mack Sutter
Claude Mpoume
Marien Bright
Titan Davis
Tucker Ashford
AJ Marks
Caamaul King

Eberhart, Sutter and Anderson are the prime targets.

Bright is going to PSU. Ashford is going elsewhere. No chance with Mpoume and Davis. we're not taking King. we can't take kids from IMG, unless we get a waiver. if so, I think Mchaney is the guy.

We're in the top 2 for Cabell. his OV this weekend to Bama will be telling. same with Barnett

As bullish as I’ve been on Bret since the day he was hired, I am still shocked at what he’s been able to do thus far. The landscape has completely changed in the last 5 years and he’s been more than up to the task, he’s been an innovator and had the vision to lead boldly. And while there’s been some turnover, he’s compiled an outstanding staff. I couldn’t be happier for him and Illini Nation. Now lets get Memorial Stadium redone and start selling 80,000 seats!

Those are the only three we're targeting at the moment. maybe just maybe owen cabell but he seems very much set on Bama.

Bama by far. He is there right now with a big group of recruits headlined by 3 5 stars and Nick Saban back on campus for the visit.
We knew going into the month you'd have to survive the Bama visit at the tail-end of the visit slate, but the staff seems to set themselves up well.

werner did say on his podcast it's likely bama-illinois. in all likelihood you are probably battling both the Alabama programs for both TE individually (Auburn for JC).

Definitely going up against the big boys.

Saturday morning fun with numbers:

Time span 1979-2024, inclusive (46 seasons)

Iowa: 2 Head Coaches 347 Wins

Illinois: 10* Head Coaches 253 Wins
*excluding interim Vic K.

Factoid: Kirk F., Coach B, and Bill Belichick all listed as having same agent- Neil Cornrich. I’ve gotta think that also helps with attracting staff, right?

(Also maybe adds some context to anecdote shared by Bret on that recent Pardon My Take appearance. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! Illini admin getting with the program😉 in more ways than one)

Lovie’s agent was (is?) Lovie’s son.

Someone please remind him whose ranked higher in the last AP Poll.
