Sadly I think it will be hard to land top targets at the TE position before this season plays out. If I played TE I wouldn't commit here as of right now. Haven't seen success at the TE position but it TEs this season play a more pivotal role in the offense then you can start seeing them interested in coming.
We did have a TE drafted in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. While it's true that Ole Miss did have two TEs feature more heavily in their offense, they haven't had a TE drafted since 2019. Also worth noting both of those TEs were transfers.

I dunno, maybe it's a hard sell but it's pretty obvious to me that TEs either get utilized or not utilized based on whether they are good enough or not. In 2021 and 2022 Kiffin didn't utilize TEs very much at Ole Miss. Then he got some good transfer TEs in and did. It seems pretty obvious to me with the type of offense they run that Bret and Lunney would love some quality TEs, and if they had them they would use them.

agree

our history of use of tight ends to catch passes the past 25 years is terrible .

Hopefully with Anderson (or Sutter) there's at least a chance to flip them in the fall(?) We've had very good success when it comes to flips over the years (Elzy, Dixon, Beerman, Forster, etc).

If there's at least a shot I'd feel okay about the staff's abilities to get an in.

flipping a kid from Cincy or PU is quite different than Bama (or Mississippi). but we're gonna try. was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

I’d rather lose out on a player to Alabama than win a recruiting battle against Western Michigan or Ball State.

I hope we comes here instead of OU, but if Eberhart goes to OU I can see a flip there if they finish 5-7 or 6-6.

In all seriousness thank everyone on this board! Know that I do appreciate you putting up with my meltdowns... I just want us to be good!! Good luck to kids we've lost and I'm completely stocked for the young men that have made a commitment to the University of Illinois!!! ILL

The word is "stoked", but don't worry, we get it.

Bret Bielema is not likely to burn any bridges over Sutter's decision.

I am curious to see how the Illini's TE situation plays out in the long run.

Heh! Well done. + the trifecta of Uhura, Bones and the ever-distressed visage of Mr. Scott.

Maybe someone else posted this, but Colorado has offered Michael Clayton and is trying to flip him.

I will give a token "sunshine and rainbows up your butts" take on Sutter. You never know if Kalen DeBoer ends up on the hot sear, justly or unjustly.
