I'm identifying myself as a friendly Cub fan but have to ask in all sincerity and no snarkiness intended:
What's going on with the Cardinal attendance? I was shocked to see so many empty seats. Was it limited to this series because of the heat? Maybe that kept away Cub fans too.
You're having an unexpected very good year. I would think there would be more interest.

It was so HOT I saw 2 fire hydrants fighting over the nearest dog...

Such a waste. Without being there I still know that the dog peed on both hydrants.

It was hot. I also think this fan base that I love and a franchise that I love are being absolute cry babies. It is very cheap to go to a game, especially if local. Also, ownership should never threaten fans about slashing if they don’t come. Just say nothing.
Now I see the the comments “once Mo leaves the fans will be back”

Ok, we will see.

Look on the bright side. How would you like to be rooting for the American League team also south (but closer) to Wrigley?
The Cardinals never seem like they're rebuilding.

The heat was definitely a factor but I believe the frustration with Mozalek and ownership to completely commit to winning is a larger factor.

It's not like they haven't brought in big names (Arenado, Goldschmitt), but some of the players and manager they let go have been frustrating as well.

The Cards rank 13th in average attendance and have the #13 winning percentage in the MLB so I think attendance is pretty much right in line with performance.

It just feels worse because we've had an extremely loyal fanbase whose attendance for years exceeded results on the field. But when you keep jacking up prices for tickets and concessions, and keep letting your investment in the on-field product slip further and further down in comparison with the rest of the league, that goodwill tends to run out.

You literally can walk though the gate on July 8th and have infield terrace or 1st and 3rd pavilion seats for just under $20. You can bring your own sandwich and drink. I can show you where to get a five dollar beer all game long. I didn’t even look for any special buys or call a rep. You can have bleacher seat for 25 and still can bring your sandwich and I can still show you where a $5 beer is.
Ticket price is the most lame excuse, IMO.

Busch also has great all-inclusive. $90 might be a sticker shock at first, but add up everything you get and it is great value. Sometimes they even throw in a museum tour with an all inclusive ticket. Some on this board probably could drink 90 bucks worth before first pitch.

Thats all well and good but with 81 home games baseball teams depend on repeat customers. How many times a baseball season is a family of 4 going to shill out $100 or more to watch a ho hum product? Once or twice, sure, but 5 times? Ten?

Like I said, attendance is right in line with the teams record, as well as it's middle of the league payroll. I'm not sure what more you all can expect of fans. This ownership has been spoiled for years.

Just as an FYI for everyone, the schedule of games for this weekend's series in Cleveland will be a little different in terms of how to watch and the start times.

Of the 3 games this weekend, only tomorrow's game will be on FanDuel Sports Midwest. Tonight's game is on Apple TV+ and there should still be the option on there to listen to the Cardinals radio call if you don't want to listen to the Apple TV+ broadcasters and it's usually pretty well synced up to what you see on TV.

Sunday's game is only on the Roku channel and has a start time of 11:05 AM Central. Hopefully there are less issues with coming back from commercial, especially after mid-inning pitching changes, like there was during the game in Texas earlier this month.

We will have a difference of opinion here. This is a young team that is playing above what they should and hardly ho-hum. Given what the service is at Busch, the $100 evening at the ballpark is probably a better value than that Uber eats car that will be pulling into the drive.
So what would be acceptable. $10 seats? Or just accept attendance is in line? I honestly don’t know the answer. I do feel the locals don’t have much of an excuse. Myself, I come from Chicagoland now, I have to get hotels, gas, and tickets. Maybe a little gambling money too(🤫). The out of towners I do feel for. I’ve heard at one time that on the weekends over 50% of the crowd is technically out of market.

That $100 evening is not just a yes or no proposition. It's spending your time and money on going to that game vs a host of other options (including other sporting events). If the team is better, with more exciting players, people will do it more more. Not sure how that's surprising or disappointing.

And sure the team is looking at lot better than most of us predicted. But 12 other teams are doing better than the Cards in the standings. And 12 other teams are doing better than the Cards in attendance. Kinda makes sense.

Seems to be an issue with getting Cardinals radio call on Apple TV+ at the moment. Initially the radio call on the Cardinals side of it was the Guardians' English radio team. Then it changed over to what I can assume is the Guardians' Spanish radio team. Really odd as I didn't have this issue with last Cardinals game on Apple TV+.

Sonny Gray pitched a Maddux tonight. Only allowed 1 hit and threw 89 pitches. And oh by the way, had 11 strikeouts. First Maddux for the Cardinals since Jordan Montgomery did it in August 2022.

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sonny Gray with a complete game 1 hit dominant shutout performance in the Cardinals 5-0 win in the opener of the series against the Guardians on the road..........No doubt that this was the best game of the season for the Cardinals rotation and very much needed after losing the last 2 games of the unlovables series.......

Sonny Gray with the highest quality start giving up 1 hit and 11 K's..........only 89 pitches........wow...........
Pages with a solo shot and great game called as the catcher........
Burleson with 2 hits and a 2 run smashed tater................
Arenado with a 2-4 night........

great game tonight and a good chance to get a game back on the unlovables as they trail the Astros 7-1 in the bottom of the 5th @
Houston.............

LET' GO CARDINALS !!!!!!!

As a Cub fan that sounds like Nirvana.
