Donovan seems to be wearing down somewhat with his BA down from .315 ish to now in the .290's range..........jmho......

IMHO if you lose 1-0, the pitcher isn't to blame. Those other 9 guys were the problem.

I wouldn't trade any young talent for help at the deadline. Anyone that could really help would cost more prospects than we should be giving up right now. Fedde and Matz are up after 2025 and neither has a NTC so I'd trade both in a heartbeat. Helsley is a FA, I'd trade him too. Mikolas is a 10/5 guy and also has NTC so moving him might not happen. Nado has the NTC as well and is owed $$ thru 2027 IIRC. Would be tough to trade him as the bat is nothing special anymore so DeWitt would have to eat $$ to make it happen and we all know how much he hates that.

Pirates 7 Cardinals 0 - Monday
Pirates 1 Cardinals 0 - Tuesday
Pirates 5 Cardinals 0 - Wednesday

Swept by the last place team in the NL Central and can't even score a friggin' run. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs sweep them also.

They went 2 for 23 in the series with runners in scoring position.

Down 5-0 after 7 innings. Pittsburgh is currently 14 games out of 1st place and reside in the cellar of the NL Central, and we haven't scored a damn run on them this entire series ... absolutely pathetic.

To be fair, the Pirates are playing really well right now. They came into this series sweeping a Mets team who, while they struggled for most of the month of June, was still in 1st place in the NL East for most of this season.

And something to consider that I heard on the radio today. Over the past 20 seasons, this year's team had the 5th best record through 85 games. Better than even both the 2006 and 2011 World Champion teams. The Cardinals team that had the best record in that span through 85 games was the 2015 team managed by Matheny.

This team has been over achieving in my opinion. They are not a great team. It is a long season, and there will be ups and downs. There are some injuries and the bench is not all that great. Was it last week the Cardinal started a guy in center, who they picked up from the reds?

Time to look at available batting coaches...5 shutouts in the last 3 series...

There are people out there, who know a lot more about baseball than I do. My understanding is that Brandt Brown is highly respected hitting coach. How many coaches and pitching coaches does this organization have to go through, before they realize it may boil down to talent? I know you can not fire the players.

Another weekend that will be different in terms of how to watch and the start times.

Today's game is an Apple TV+ only game.

Sunday's game is on ESPN but it has an earlier than normal start time for a Sunday night game of 5:00 PM CT.
