I would love to take a 4 🌟 from Iowa, a little payback for the ones from Illinois that have gotten over the years.
The other thing I forgot to mention is that Iowa doesn't produce near the number of quality players that illinois does, so they have to poach from other states (not that we don't). And for some reason those few Iowa players that are good tend to stay in Iowa. It just really irritates me to see Illinois players going to Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin or any Bigten or SEC school for that matter.

Fred Riddle was certainly one of the first in 1961, but the following year was maybe the biggest ever as Cazzie Russell split for Michigan and opened the floodgates.
George Pomey from Prospect (Class of 61) also left for Michigan and played alongside Cazzie.

Isn't there a European insider on here who says we have an AMAZING relationship with this team? This can't hurt at all.

You are absolutely right. I think that flow of stars began with Fred Riddle (Collinsvile) about 1961 or 62. He was Bogie Redmond's h.s. teammate.
I remember Loren Tate saying the great Iowa teams in the mid-50's had a bunch of players from Illinois

Told ya about Suigo going to Mega like 2 months ago :D

But its a loan from Milano, his agent will handle business from there. He will get featured in ABA league and tested in one of the best leagues in Europe. Think that list is about to grow bigger than Big Ten.

This is also a nice wing that has some high major suitors and had nice tournament few days ago.

Well, I already posted the Wessels and Gentry connection. Babe Hawthorne (from Colfax) was 6th man on an Iowa team in the mid '50s that made it all the way to the nat'l title game. Then they ran into San Francisco, Bill Russel, and K.C. Jones. I think this was just prior to the Don Nelson years (Rock Island I think.). But that hardly counts; the Quad Cities has always been pretty black and gold.

Nasir Rankin indicated that he plans to play both football and basketball at Illinois, yet he doesn't appear on the basketball roster at this point. What can we infer at this point? I believe he would be the 15th player on the roster.
