Jamar was on a par with Rick Mount accuracy wise on those deep corner shots..........almost an automatic swisheroo.....

it really really was..............
Sean Harrington was pretty much automatic from the corner too, and more importantly, an Illini

Legend …
I hated to see him with the ball ...............usually meant a bucket and he made a lot of corner shots as he was falling out of bounds.....

sniper deluxe.................

I’ll confirm once again …

The expectation is that Ty will miss the entire season …

The media will continue to ask Brad about this … Brad will continue to dodge the question about injury specifics and timeline until all parties agree it’s time to share …

Those were your two highest paid players on the roster last year … We don’t have “big splash” money left in the bank and there isn’t a “big splash” guy left out there either honestly … But the staff is very active … We didn’t just send Geoff to Greece to look at future prospects …

If he's cleared off the court, I'd consider Keonte Jones pretty big splash. He was one of three players last season (Cooper Flagg, Yaxel Lendeborg) to led a D1 team in steals, blocks, assists, and rebounds while scoring 10+ PPG.

No idea if we're involved, but one guy who seems to have gained some buzz (and said to be considering NCAA):

he's no doubt very talented - was at many points considered the draft sleeper - but I doubt we have room for a legal spectacle (or even character concerns). Maybe isn't the case who knows, and would then be a very fine addition.

Tom Michael owns the career best 3-point mark for Illinois at .449 and the single season record at .492. Of course, the 3-point line was closer in those days.

I don't think you really need a big splash type guy. Really just need a 3 and D wing type.

Stojakovic moves well enough and has some length but I wouldn't necessarily call him a plus defender also he's likely your best offensive option so you don't necessarily want to put him on opposing teams best guards/wings like we had to do with Shannon two years ago.

After Stojakovic your the only other wings on the roster are Davis and Humrichous who are the type of guys you hide defensively(maybe Wagler too since he has some length but he doesn't look physically ready to make a big defensive impact yet).

He was basically only shooting wide open corner 3's but to his credit he was mocking them down.

There were entire games where he didn't shoot though.

I guess my concern would be does a player from Greece have less visa issues than players from other countries, because it's getting pretty late and we still don't have players we signed months ago, so if it's gonna happen this season it needs to happen soon.

Jamar was SO GOOD. I was so sorry to see things get in the way of Jamar becoming an all-time great for Illinois.

But "on a par" with Rick Mount? I will respectfully disagree. Mount averaged 28.5 as a Soph, 33.3 as a Jr, and 35.5 as a Sr (32.3 ppg over 3 seasons), all without the 3-point shot.

Thanks for the intel on Alexander (the Great?) and his trip to Greece. Any more nuggets about what type of player Alexander might be looking at? (No names, of course.) And will Alexander be stopping off at any other European countries on this "sightseeing" trip?

If Keonte Jones is "cleared off the court," I'd see no reason why not to sign him. But I suppose there are more ways than one to be "cleared," and that might affect his recruitment. Also, Jones would need to be "cleared" fairly quickly in my opinion, in order for him to have time to work his way into the team.

Panagiotis Pagonic, 6'9", 205-pound PF from Greece: a SHOOTER! But is another PF a real "need" for the Illini? Could he play right away and guard quick, athletic 4s? We seem to be short on wings/guards, especially if Petrovic has eligibility problems and/or visa issues.

Why not Ali Dibba from SIU? From right down the road and #1 player still available on 247.

17 a game in the MVC is nothing to sneeze at.
Thanks for mentioning Ali Dibba. I just mentioned him a couple of days ago on this site... but no one responded. Dibba had good numbers at SIU this past season. I think he could fill a need on the Illini roster for 2025-2026.
