3 hits last night. I think it was a good decision to bring him up against the Rockies on the road.
Certainly didn’t hurt. Very interested to see how he does after leaving Denver.

Colson is a real wildcard. If he shows glimpses that he can consistently contribute some as early as next year, could free up a July trade of Sosa for a prospect if there is a contender that needs a 2B cuz of injury. He’s done pretty well this year, but I think he’s more a utility infielder on a good team. They Meidroth, plus have a few decent middle infielder-type prospects in the system.

Bobby Jenks has passed away. Only 44 years old.

Jenks was such a key piece for the Sox in that magic year 20 years ago. He just went out there that season and seized the closer role for himself. It was fun watching him blow guys away with that vicious fastball. And he brought Attitude to the closer role that such relievers need to have to be successful.

Think of where we would be today as Sox fans if we did not have that championship year in our memory. It would make the current state of the White Sox even tougher to take without having that great season to hold us over until the Sox can once again really compete again.

Jenks did not have many years as the Sox closer just as he did not have many years now in Life. Hopefully he found happiness during those days.

As Sox fans... 2005 we will never forget. And all the special guys who made it so.

Stupid mistake by ESPN social media, but the backlash is pretty silly. Linked article certainly gives him his due.

Former Sox Gavin Sheets right now has 13 homers and 49 RBI for the Padres.

And Andrew Vaughn hit a three-run home run in his first at-bat with the Brewers.

After 100 games, Sox are 35-65. On pace to win 56 games. 5-5 over their last 10, with a 3 game win streak. Still hoping for at least a 63-99 finish.
That would be nice, but if don’t make it I hope it is because they picked up some good prospects in trades. For me, the most encouraging thing over the last 10 games isn’t the record but rather that Robert has gotten hot — hopefully meaning a better return if they trade him.

It is so much more fun to watch this ball club now than from recent years. Why? These guys play with energy. They play like they care. The young guys bring the hope of talent that can emerge and grow. The games are interesting and competitive.

The pitching staff seems to be coming along. So are some of the hitters. Even the defense is better.

The great Sox teams of the past were built on great pitching and defense and timely hitting and speed on the basepaths. You see a little bit of Little Luis with Robert Jr. stealing bases now. You see a little Nellie Fox in Chase Meidroth. You see a little Jim Landis and Ken Berry with Robert Jr.’s defense in center field.

In short... the 2025 White Sox are slowly beginning to resemble what a White Sox team is supposed to look like.

Perhaps Will Venable was a good hire as manager.

He's great. Seems to have the players' respect, great presence, etc. The team seemed to take on a different demeanor almost immediately. I hope he stays with the Sox for a long time.

Baseball players ever since the Free Agent Era started have been pretty much independent contractors – sole operators – selling themselves to the highest bidder. Teams are assemblings of whatever management can fit under their spending ceiling and whatever each player can squeeze out of the ball club.

As such, the ā€˜Team’ feeling can often suffer. When you were more tied to team before free-agency you really had to care about that team because they pretty much owned you. That wasn’t a great system but it did force a kind of team feeling by necessity. That was lost with greater freedom for players.

The point? It’s special when a group of guys come together that actually seem to like each other. This is what the Sox seem to have now. There is real chemistry among these guys. You can see it on the field and in the dugout. For this you can give credit to the Manager and Coaches... and most certainly the Players because the Manager could not force this on players it they didn’t feel it.

I especially like how Vargas has turned things around. Last year he was unhappy about the trade and moping around. This year he is working to become a team leader.

This Team-Feeling is something the Sox need to continue to build on.
