They were fun to watch in these last two series. Looked like a team that belonged in the MLB.

And the Rays starting pitcher got sent down to AAA. What losing to the Sox does to a person.

Homers by Teel and Montgomery bode well for the future. Montgomery’s performance so far has been very encouraging. If he can keep this up and show the Sox have their middle infield of the future, no matter what record they finish with this season will be a success.

I find myself wondering what the Cubs thread will be like on Monday after the Sox sweep them this weekend.
I don’t think it will happen, but yeah Cubs thread would be scary if it does.

Friday is a big game for Houser and Sox. He had a bit of a rough outing last time out and he’ll only have one more additional start before deadline. Good start will help solidify trade value. Plus, Cubs need starting pitching, so could be a landing spot for him.

Hey everyone, in advance of the cross town game this weekend we ended up some beers with Sox staff. Gene Honda had to be one given his role with the Sox as well as Illinois. We picked his favorite beer and "summered" it up a bit. You'll be able to find it at the Craft Corner, as well as Marketplace 123, 154, 522, and 542. We did an IPA with Jeff (has worked with the Sox for 42 years) as well.

Let's go Sox!!!!!

Robert Jr not in the lineup for tonight's game.
Is he traded or hurt again?

Sox 12 - 5 over the Cubs tonight.
Attendance 38,762.

It's nice to see that the young Sox players can experience the ballpark filled up and rocking. There's been so many empty seats so far this season with the poor record. These guys are now learning how Sox fans and the Sox ball park rock when the team gives us something good to watch. Real energy and passion.

Environment was electric. It was 50/50 Cubs/Sox which isn't ideal, but with the outcome it ended up being pretty amazing. Today should be another good one.

You might have heard by now, but, if not, he has abductor soreness
Right before the trade deadline. Sounds like a guy who enjoys being on a team with no expectations, no pressure and just gets a paycheck without caring about being on a team that's in dead last in the AL. He has every opportunity right now to go to a playoff type team where their games matter in September.

These three games are the Sox World Series. With the Cubs lining up their pitching to play a series in Milwaukee starting Monday, they draw Ben Brown who is God awful. It would have been a nice showcase game for the Sox to flaunt him, but nope.

Really enjoyed the game tonight. What a difference from last year. Young pitchers look really good. What a turnaround since the All-Star break.

If my calculations are correct, Sox are 13-13 since the halfway point of the season. 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Even when they lose, you can see by watching the Sox that they are laying a good foundation of a ball club. Start with the baseball tradition of ‘Up the Middle’... good young catching, good young pitchers, a shortstop and second baseman. And Robert can still field like a master and steal a base.

More pieces need to be added. And the young players have much yet to grow. But the seeds are there.

When the Sox had their greatest stretch of 17 winning seasons in a row... they were Strong Up The Middle. That's Sox ball.

I'd say another 100 loss season is becoming less and less likely. (Ranking courtesy of ESPN.)

I mentioned at beginning of season that the Austin Slater signing was a good one as hopefully as a veteran they could get a prospect at the deadline. Worked out as they flipped him to NYY for their #18 prospect. Was a fourth round pick last year and done fair in minors so far. Likely back end of rotation/RP, but who knows.

Tough choice of the day:

Should the Sox keep Robert Jr. and hope he can return to the high-level form he has shown before? Or do they get the best they can for him right now and not wait any longer and just get what they can?

All comes down to whether they’re comfortable with picking up his $20M option for next year. I can see the value in keeping him to hopefully continue team progress made this year cuz he’s not blocking anyone. But if they keep him only in the hopes he’ll get back to 2023 level, probably bad gamble. At least he’s having a good July to maximize return this year if traded.
