Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother were killed in a car crash earlier today in northwestern Spain. Spanish authorities say Jota's car veered off the road and caught fire after it had a tire blowout while trying to overtake another car.

Jota was 28 and had just gotten married less than 2 weeks ago to his longtime partner, with whom he had 3 children.

Palace demoted from Europa League to Conference League due to being too closely linked to Lyon, who also qualified for Europa League, through one of the club's owners. The majority owner of Lyon owns just over 40% of Palace though the Premier League club has argued that he has no role in the running of the club. UEFA's regulations take issue with any dual holding greater than 30%. If the ruling is upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, then Forest will take Palace's spot in Europa League.

About what I figured an Everton season opener to be today. They were lucky to not lose by more considering they spent most of the 1st half in their own defensive half of the field and at one point in the 1st half they didn't have a single shot attempt while Leeds had 11.

Additional police presence at Selhurst Park today for Palace-Forest.

Reportedly Forest were the ones that sent the letter to UEFA regarding Palace's ownership issues that led to Palace getting demoted to Conference League.

Don't want to jinx it, but Spurs have started 2-0 under Thomas Frank after beating Man City on the road over the weekend. After last season's defensive debacle, they have yet to allow a goal this season.
